Topic: Help!!

I have been playing for abouuuuut 10 years now, and i want to make the step up and buy a Les Paul (currently playing 2 American strats, love 'em but i would like to be able to get some different sounds) I absolutely love the 57 gold top and my favorites are the 58 and 59 reissues with the really deep flame. The only problem is i have fairly small hands and the 50's style necks arent very comfortable, i realize that les pauls have a way different feel than strats and that is something that i'd just have to get used to. Any recomendations on a LP for someone with smaller hands. After looking i think the only solid colored les paul's i really like are the gold tops, other than that i am in love with the flame top bursts. Thanks in advanced!

Re: Help!!

Look at a Les Paul Standard with a 60's style neck.  They come in flames and in differenet bursts or goldtop.

Re: Help!!

Unless you're just stuck on having humbuckers, you might consider a Les Paul Special reissue. They have P-90s which are single coils instead of humbuckers, but they really sound good--far different from the single coils on Strats. I have a 1958 LP Special and it scratches my LP itch just fine and the neck is much slimmer than the standards. They're also a lot cheaper.

Re: Help!!

1972 or 1973 Les Pauls.....skinny necks - very easy to fret a full F or G bar Chord.

I always thought Squiers had nice little skinny necks...

Re: Help!!

thanks for the help everyone! I really like the neck on my 50th anniversary strat. I think its called the modern C. it sits just right in the palm of my hand, and its sooooo smooth.

Re: Help!!

Have you considered a double fat strat? Think about it.

Re: Help!!

Try to stay with the Historic/Custom Shop line of Les Pauls - amazing instruments and well worth the extra cash over a Standard in my opinion.  The neck on the 1960 (R0) is slimmer than the '59 profile and may be to your liking.  The Les Paul Special with P90's mentioned by LarryT is also a nice guitar.  This guitar is also available from the Historic/Custom Shop in  both single and double cut models.
