Topic: Hi I'm Catfish Jane

Hi Everyone

I'm Catfish Jane from England.  I have been lucky enough to get to see Joe Bonamassa twice.  Once at The Empire, Shepherd's Bush last year and last week at a recording of a live show for the BBC Radio 2 programme The Paul Jones R 'n' B Show.  Joe was absolutely mindblowing!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/jones/

The programme is going out on Radio Two this coming Monday, 11th February, at 7 PM GMT,
but can be listened to again anytime for a week afterwards.  Don't miss it!

Hi Catfish Jane

Left a reply on the Other Artists section following your post.

A warm welcome to the JB forum.
A great place for very pleasant meeting of Blues lovers.
Glad you have witnessed the spectacle of Joe live. Pretty awesome I think you agree judging by your comments on the gig last week. You're so lucky to get a ticket.

I'll be checking out the Blues Band website more often now.

Hope you'll stay here as well.

Ges.

Re: Hi I'm Catfish Jane

Welcome Catfish to this wonderful forum.

Can you or someone else in the UK record the show for me please and send it to me?  My own computes is broken and that will last one more week I'm afraid. Can send me an email about it.

Andre Wittebroek.

Re: Hi I'm Catfish Jane

Hi Everyone

Thanks for all your welcome messages.  You are all much friendlier than the guys who log in to The Blues Band forum, where replies are fairly rare.

http://www.phpbbplanet.com/thebluesband … b2b81c5ec3

Andre:  How did you manage to post on this forum if your computer is broken?  My taping from my computer are fairly basic (small tape machine beside the speaker), someone else with more technical knowhow might do a better job!

Cathysiler:  Yeh!  I like Anysley Lister too!  I have a pal, who lives in Liverpool, who has seen him a number of times, but I haven't got to one of his gigs yet.

BigJeffJones:  I really do live in England.  There are a lot of blues fans here, you know.  We are currently going wild about Joe, who we think is really awesome.  Do you know that there is a new blues band in Kansas, who play songs written by members of The Blues Band?

Michaellynch:  There were about 80, or so in the audience.  There was a draw for the tickets. We had to either e mail, or write in.  They were then pulled out of a hat.  Hundreds evidently applied, so I was extremely lucky.  The tickets were free.  We just had to be able to get to the BBC Maida Vale studios on the evening of the recording.  All The Paul Jones Show production team are extremely friendly and are really dedicated to promoting the blues.  The producer Paul Long also plays the blues.  He plays with a band called The Riotuous Brothers.  They play in the Hampshire area of England.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to get to any other of Joe's UK gigs, as I'd already booked The Empire, Shepherd's Bush date (this coming Friday) for something else.  I wish I could be in two places at once!  Still, it's Geno Washington who I'm going to see, at Camberley Theatre, Surrey.  Geno is always fun.  Do you like him?

Catfish Jane,
Great handle, and it would be a great blues name too. Welcome to the forum. This IS the home of the greatest collection of music fans in the world...which makes sense, since our host is the greatest too.
Glad you stopped by!

Hallo Catfish Jane,

About my computer. our home computer is broken and all the Joe things are on that one..I use my wifes laptop from work, just for the messages to this forum, can't miss that!!
Maybe it is technical possible to connect it but we don't know how. Wednesday it should be fixed again.

Re: Hi I'm Catfish Jane

Hi Andre

Sorry to hear about your computer.  I know it's a terrible thing when a computer goes wrong.  It should be possible to download the real player and BBCiPlayer onto the laptop.

If you can't, don't worry, as the Joe Bonamassa show will be on "Listen again" for a whole week after that.

The extra session tracks and the full interview will be on the website for a whole 28 days after the live broadcast, which is going out on Monday, at 7 PM GMT.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/jones/sessions.shtml

You will have plenty of time to catch up on it when your computer is fixed.

If you like what you hear then leave some feedback on the "Comments" page.  The Paul Jones Radio Show production team will be delighted to hear from you.

Re: Hi I'm Catfish Jane

Hi Gary

Thanks for your welcome.

Geno Washington was born in Evansville, Indiana, in 1943.  Geno Washington and his Ram Jam Band were tremendously popular of over here in the late 1960s.  I never got to see him back then, but always wanted to.  Geno is very energetic and his gigs are always tremendous rave ups.

You can read more about Geno here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geno_Washington

and here http://www.genowashington.com/

Also on the same bill of the "This is Soul Tour" is Eddie Floyd "Knock On Wood".  I saw him, at The Jazz Cafe, last year when he went round with Bill Wyman and His Rhythm Kings.

They call it "Soul" for commercial purposes.  It's really blues, but "soul" sells tickets, whereas "blues" doesn't.  Well, that's probably what the marketing people think, anyway, I suppose.

Hi Rocket, Millhouse and Montius

Thanks very much for your welcome messages and thanks to Millhouse for posting a comment for PJ's show page.

They've actually put about 13 messages about Joe, so far, on the actual website http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/jones/comments.shtml

Every single comment received for the show will go towards proving to the Beeb just how popular PJ's show is.  It really needs to be longer, have more live sessions with audiences and not to be taken off over Bank Holdiay weekends, which is what the programme planners tend to do. mad I think that they should at least repeat Joe's session at Easter time. What do you all think?

This forum is a very friendly pool for a catfish to be swimming in.
