Topic: Just listened to some samples on iTunes

based off of some general topic forum interest - I wanted to check out and possibly purchase some Popa Chubby.

His best selling songs on iTunes are
Hallelujah - (leonard cohen cover)
hey joe - (hendrix)
lowrider - (war)
these boots were made for walkin' - (nancy sinatra)
I also heard the "explicit" song about urinating on a grave or something like that.

I dunno - I found the music to be a little cabaret or at least consistent with local detroit area talent. So I passed on purchasing the ones I heard. It's cool he's able to make a living on music and sell covers on iTunes. Who knows maybe he'll grow on me. It might take me seeing him in concert to become a believer, if iTunes doesn't do his music justice. I'm also up for any recommendations on his or any other new blues or blues/rock music!

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

unless detroit area talent is world class, you're wrong.  it's that simple.  as far as the covers go the man writes more originals than most people in blues.  for example every single joe bonamassa album is more than half covers.

i have a black keys album.  they are pretty good.

as far as recommendations go i cannot recommend craig erickson enough.  his album shine has some of the best guitar playing i have ever heard.

one other thing.  random 30 second samples do no one's music justice.

Thanks for the recommendation Suhl! Never heard of Craig before, but will have to check out that album

I love this website...and youtube!

Anytime I want to hear about some other artists, I just come to this section, then make beeline for youtube for live videos. Isn't technology great!

If you haven't already, be sure to pick up Ryan McGarvey's debut 'Forward In Reverse' album. One of the best of 2007.
