Congrats Joe.  Wish you got the album of the year too.  I liked Painkiller...but not as much as Sloe Gin.

Congratulations Joe!

This was a well deserved award for one of the hardest working musicians out there! We should also note that Joe has an awesome group supporting him; Bogie, Carmine, Rick, Aaron, Dave and Jay. Well done guys!

Enjoy India and Europe. Be safe and healthy and I can't wait for the new live CD! I will see all of you when you bring the tour back through the midwest! (Anxiously awaiting for some of those dates to be posted!) smile

What the hell, why not. I think Sloe Gin was #4, but #1 in OUR hearts!!!

Re: Blues Wax Artist of the Year

I voted for both Joe and Sloe Gin. I'm guessing so did everybody else here. Joe's fans will vote straight party on something like this. I find it surprising that it didn't win. Unbelievable if it came in 4th. Can't comment on Catro's record never heard it but I don't have to I have heard one of his others.

That's a little harsh Jim.  There is no way Gratitude sounds like Right as Rain or Painkiller...he unlike most others has his total own sound that he has had since his first album...

Might of been. I like Tommy. I've had his band here twice. I like his vocals. The guy can sing. He is a good blues guitar player. He just isn't reinventing the wheel. Haven't gotten into his records enough to tell any subtle nuances. It's more like I have a CD didn't knock my socks off so I don't care if I hear this one.

Re: Blues Wax Artist of the Year

NOW they want to "catch up with Joe" lol Things always play out...Congratulations once again Joe.  Tommy Castro has really made some new fans is all I can deduce (In know he has, that is a fact I have been able to prove regardless of voting-he's had some quick repeat returns in some markets), so people went for his album I suppose.  So that's good for the blues, reinvented or not...But Sloe Gin is simply the best thing released last year, period!!! A winner amongst also rans, time will bear it out even more. Congratulations again, Joe.
