Re: Grammys tonight!

This is my Oscars night. The results can be frustrating at times, but when a deserving artist wins it more than balances it out. What's it gonna take to get Joe at least nominated one of these days??????????? I hope Robben Ford scores for Truth. I don't know if it works on the east coast, but last year I got the results online prior to hearing them on TV.

Re: Grammys tonight!

Glad to see I'm not the only viewer. They will never top the show opener the year Los Lonely Boys was nominated ..Remember...Each nominated song was performed, then they ALL played at the same time and it sounded great! And while our friends in England are getting Joe and Co...I'll be watching the "Bow Wow Bowl" (Westminster Kennel Club Show) this week. The only time an announcer uses the word "b*tch" properly!   Cathy     Dawg...If you get results.e-mail me! Thanks

Re: Grammys tonight!

There are some results already posted and I imagine they will be updated..I'm not going to say anything.....I found them at   www.theenvelope.latimes.com    Cathy

Re: Grammys tonight!

Those are the categories that don't get mentioned on the broadcast.

Re: Grammys tonight!

It's 6:30 and I already know that Amy Rehabhouse won two and the Boss got three. Still don't get the whole
Springsteen thing.

Re: Grammys tonight!

Man..The Gospel rendition of "Let it Be" from "Across the Universe" had me in tears. Follow that with a great Gospel showing with Aretha Frankin and CeCe Wynans.. Definitely "moving" performances... John Mayer and Alecia Keys next..got to TiVo...   Cathy

Re: Grammys tonight!

Amy Winehouse??...are you kidding me...you would have to tie me in a chair and make me listen to that...HORRIBLE!!

Re: Grammys tonight!

Now Shred..I have to admit I really like her and thought it was good. Heck, she didn't slur or mess up like Dicky Betts did at the his last show.  She did look like a deer in the headlights. I'm glad her Mom was with her. Her issues just make me sad. Cathy

Re: Grammys tonight!

ha!  FooFighters beat the Boss and nabbed themselves a Grammy.

Wish they would've gotten album of the year. sad

Pinetop Perkins was nominated for the blues grammy 3 out of the 4 entries.....since he was on the KWS film as well. Dang, call that one a LOCK.

Re: Grammys tonight!

I think Amy is incredibly good!!  Her music transports me back in time, she's got such a unique style for the yesterday classic...I only have recordings and have never seen her live, except for last night on the Grammy's.  What is her substance issue, alcohol or drugs...hope she gets it together?  Anyway, the Grammys seemed to be a bigger mix of diversified artists last night with everything from orchestra, Herbie Hancock to the hip-hop rap...I have to say I thought Vince Gill's line to Kanye West was really funny after Vince received his Grammy from Ringo Starr. I think some of the rap guys are a little egotistical IMO. It looks like Robben Ford got beat out by Clapton and JJ Cale in that category and KWS didn't win...still great to be nominated.  I think maybe I liked Foo Fighters Grohl better as Nirvana's drummer...he just strikes me as a screamer, and I like a shout and scream sometimes, he's more like a constant screamer...I can't always understand him...just my 2 cents...

I have to side with Dave on this one. I don't get it. I thought she was terrible. There is a band in town that covers Rehab I'd rather listen to them do it.

Re: Grammys tonight!

I don't get Alicea Keyes either. The song was average at best her voice is average. Tina Turner took Beyonce to school and Tina is 100 years old now.

Vince Gill is pretty cool. Oklahoma Boy. Kanye West needs an **** whoopin.

Re: Grammys tonight!

Well, KWS lost in both.  For Blues, Pinetop won:

Best Traditional Blues Album:

Last Of The Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live In Dallas
Henry James Townsend, Joe Willie "Pinetop" Perkins, Robert Lockwood, Jr. & David "Honeyboy" Edwards

Good for all of them.

However, Kenny Wayne lost to FREAKIN MADONNA in long form video.  I know there are a few KWS haters out here, but 10 Days Out was an incredible documentary and really deserved to win.  sad

Re: Grammys tonight!

I first heard Amy on a TV show called Mad Men on AMC.  It takes place in the early 60's in New York and revolves around guys that work for an ad agency...  I don't care too much for the Rehab song, but I like the rest of that album.  I hear ya NPB, I was wondering last night if guys like all those tatoos on girls/ladies...ugh!  Jane, I don't know your Vince Gill story, spill the beans girlfriend, he's a great guitarist, I appreciate his less country stuff especially.  Shame about 10 Days Out...

I agree Chris..That one got under my skin too! I am a big fan of KWS..He lost me for a while, but I'm back! We need to remind ourselves these are the same folks that didn't give our Joe a nod!    Cathy

Not a big fan of tatoos but combinge them with every other style statement she was making last night and it adds up to words I can't use here. I have a real problem with somebody reaching popular success she has now attained but willing to throw it all away becase she can't control her impulses. Listening to her especially last night where she was going through withdrawls or a bout of nerves. She couldn't of been on top of her game taking time off from her stint in rehab to perform. I still think there are girls every season on American Idol that can sing circles around Amy Winehouse. She has become wildly interesting simply because of her lifestyle and image not because of any talent. I'll try this IMO to qualify my remarks.
