Topic: Florida - Robert Cray Band Alert

I've been listening to Joe talk about Robert Cray on Sirius more than once and I've seen Robert Cray play on the Crossroads DVD, but I never really listened to his music too much until recently.   I really like what I have heard and was planning to attend the Tampa Blues Festival to see him play in April.

Well, guess what?  I found out yesterday he and Koko Taylor will be  playing for FREE tomorrow afternoon downtown Orlando.  So, anybody living in Central Florida, you might want to check this out.

Of course, I'll be wearing my proper Joe Bonamassa attire for the occassion, so if anybody decides to attend, I'll be easy to spot.

The First Annual Blues Festivals in Lake Mary and Orlando just started last year.  The Blues is finally catching on here in the Orlando area and I couldn't be happier. smile

"The Forecast Calls for Pain" by Cray is a great song. Great title too.

Technique doesn't come into it. I deal with emotions.

I saw him a couple years ago and he does not disappoint.  Enjoy!

Susan,

If you start collecting some of Robert's music here's some really good ones. Bad Influence, Strong Persuader, and Midnight Stroll. By all means get a copy of Showdown from 1985, It's Robert with Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland. It's so damn good they won the Grammy for it that year.I've got a release from before Bad Influence on vinyl called Who's Been Talkin', rather rare, but good early stuff. Next time Animal House is on look for the bass player in Otis Day & The Knights, you guessed it, that's Robert Cray.

Re: Florida - Robert Cray Band Alert

I wanted to let you guys know that we went to the 2008 Orlando Blues BQ and it was a great time.  You all were right about Robert Cray.  We were not disappointed.  All the bands were good, including local talent. Koko Taylor's band was really good.  But Robert Cray was the highlight of the evening for me.  I have the "Strong Persuader" cd, but I know I'll be collecting more of his work.

We took pictures if anyone is interested.  The best way to view them is by clicking on 'Slideshow'.  Then mouse down to bottom left of the screen and the controls will be displayed. It's much better if you click Effects to "Off".
