I agree with most of you guys. Eric has had some different styles in the past,but still one of my fav. bluesplayers of all time.
Like a lot of his albums. Specially the one he does Robert J. Got the dvd from that one to.
My fav. of all time is Layla (unplugged version). Called my grey (female) cat after this song!

I'll just echo what just about everyone else has said. In my book he's one of the all-time greats and a blues man to the core.
The book is wonderful. His story of recovery is incredible. It's amazing he's alive to write about it.
I hope there is another Crossroads Festival. I was at the one in Chicago and Eric mentioned that there may be more. The DVD is great, but doesn't compare to the experience of being there.
hi all, i was lucky enough to see eric play the royal albert hall last year and he was note perfect for two hours, he played little queen of spades so well my jaw dropped, second best concert ever for me, tops were pink floyd at earls court awesome mindblowin experience, eric has got better as his life has changed, now he is a master but to me his blues songs will always be his forte.
I've always loved Clapton. I SOOO want to go to the Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood concert that's coming up (I forget the exact date) at Madison Square Gardens, but money-wise and distance-wise I can't see it happening. I already know a couple other people who are going, and I'm so jealous. I've only seen Clapton live once, in the mid-90s, and it was that blues tour (From the Cradle, maybe?) where he played all the old blues classics and only a few of his own songs... it was a great show, but I'd have liked to have heard more of HIS material. I've seen Winwood once too, with Traffic in the mid-90s... now THAT was a terrific show. Anyway, yeah, Clapton's great!

Hey, I just realized my above post needs to be updated in regard to my statement that money-wise and distance-wise I'd never make the MSG show, because the other day the most unbelievable thing happened! An online friend offered me a free ticket (on the floor too!), if I could get myself there. Another friend of mine has tickets for the same day, and I thought maybe I could make the 3-hour drive to his place and catch a ride the rest of the way with him... but then it got even better... turns out he's meeting a buddy there who happens to live local to me, so I can actually catch a ride the WHOLE way with that guy (and give him some company for the drive too). And they also have a hotel room reserved and I can crash with them. I can't believe how it all worked out... the offer of the ticket came out of the blue, and all the pieces fell into place within like 10-15 minutes. Looks like I'm gonna be buying a few rounds of drinks, huh? It's gonna be fun finally meeting this girl who's giving me the ticket... she's really cool... and we're probably the two biggest Winwood fans on the Floyd forum we post at. And I am SO stoked to see Clapton again too! WOO-HOO!! 
So is anybody else here seeing Clapton and Winwood at MSG? And if so, do you want to try to meet up? They're playing 3 nights... Feb 25th, 26th & 28th ... our tickets are for the last night.

I know what I´m going to read when my Uni exam-time is over (1 and a half weeks to go)... and Angela: I will look out for George´s live from Tokyo - I don´t have it up to now (just when you think you´ve got ALL the Beatles and post-Beatles stuff, you have to realize that you don´t
).
Just listened to "Layla" again, what a fantastic, breathtaking song ... it´s one of the songs that you can listen to all over again and it still carrys you away (like Joe´s songs do...).

I just heard a version of Layla by Derek Trucks that is absolutely mindblowing. It has much more of an R&B kind of vibe, but he sure does Duane Allman's slide parts justice, like always.
It is no wonder Eric hired him to be part of his band recently. If you haven't heard Eric Clapton and JJ Cale's Road to Escondido yet, I highly recommend it. Some of the best stuff I have heard out of Clapton lately, tbh, which is saying a lot.

I have bought the Escondido record when it came out ... I also think that it´s really good stuff - my mum loves it even more than me (she´s into the "slower tunes"), so sometimes I have to fight with her to listen to my own CD

I'm really excited for you and what a fun surprise!!! Only the best for a fellow Bonamassa/Floyd/Machine fan. We'll be there on the 26th, the Tuesday show, really looking forward to it... If you do a search there was a thread about others going, I think maybe Lee and Joe Beacon... There was a rumor about Pete Townsend being in NY on these dates, so there could be a surprise, not sure. And for anyone getting to NY ahead of time, one of the Clapton fans suggested stopping in to see Les Paul perform on Monday nite, 2 shows at 8 and 10, its within walking distance of MSG and Les apparently chats with fans after the 10 o'clock show. And Vikki, since you are up on the Machine, send me an e-mail if you know when tickets go on sale for the Keswick, I thought they'd be up by now for a May show. Thanks.

It's good, but I am really glad Clapton and him rerecorded it, as I think Clapton brings a lot to the table with it.
Yes, "Don´t cry sister" is quite grooovy ... my favourite would probably be "Who am I telling you", I think it´s a beautiful song and I like the lyrics...

Ah, it's just for fun. We play college events, parties, ect. And we don't really play that many shows.
This is the first thing in my life that I do for the fun of it, honestly, and I just don't see any reason to change that, you know?
You need to check out the the Creem Reunion DVD. Clapton is at his best. EC is a Legend. Enough said.
