That show is one of my all time favorites.  Lots of my friends are either Star Wars or Star Trek (or both) nerds and I was always more of the X-Files nerd of the group (though, I do like the other two as well, just not particularly as much as they did).  I've been looking at getting the entire series + movie boxed set sometime, but that $350 just seems to keep going to guitar/audio gear. Hmm....funny how that works....

I LOVE the X-Files!  I own all 9 seasons, plus all 4 installments of the mythology series, plus the movie, plus the 1 and only season of The Lone Gunmen spin-off (which I liked).  And there's a new X-Files movie coming out this June or July, yay!  big_smile

At one time, EACH season was ridiculously priced at around $100, but over the years the price gradually dropped to about $20.  Now you can buy the whole series in one box-set... list price is like $330, but I've seen it go on sale for as low as $100 at some of the chain stores.  Kinda makes me sick when I think about how much I spent (but at least I got some deals which were good at the time), and mine takes up a hell of a lot more shelf space too!  hmm

That is awesome!  There is a new movie coming out!?!?!?!? How did I not know of this!?!?!  :falls into a nerd coma:

I am really trying to save up for that boxed set, but like I said, it all tends to get spent on guitar related stuff. 

I remember contemplating buying the whole series when it was $100 bucks a pop off of ebay for like $500, but decided against it.

I've never seen the Lone Gunman spinoff.  Another thing I'll probably have to end up buying....damn consumerism....

Back to the movie train of thought that Stu started here. I watched, To Tulsa And Back  On The Road With J.J. Cale (2005) last night. J.J. is the most unassuming rock star you'd ever wanna meet. Lot's of footage of Eric Clapton paying homage to his good buddy. J.J. is still playing and touring with the same bunch of friends he's been with since the late 50's when they hooked up in Tulsa. I'm a sucker for music documentaries and this one really shines. It's really laid back just like the man it's about.

I actually liked Cale's version of Cocaine better than Clapton's. Not that Clapton's was bad though.

Technique doesn't come into it. I deal with emotions.

I liked his version of After Midnight better than Clapton's, tbh.  Much more mellow vibe, which I really dig for that song.  As for Cocaine, I can't really pick.

I also dig Call Me The Breeze and Same Old Blues by JJ equally as much as the way Skynyrd covered them. Awesome either way. In the film he talked about recording Cocaine. It was originally much more laid back like most of his stuff, but his producer talked him into kicking it up a few notches.
