I liked it.  I really liked the soundtrack.  North Mississippi Allstars did a lot of it, and I am a fan (especially after seeing them live).

Hey, if we're talking about Blues Movies, what about "Crossroads" with Ralph Machio (Karate Kid)? I know you'll all laugh at me, but I thought this was a pretty good movie. Here's a clip near the end of the movie where Machio's character has a guitar duel with Steve Vai for possession of the old harmonica players soul and his own. There's also a full version a little further down the list. This one is only a little over 2 minutes right at the end of the duel.

I really liked that movie Crossroads, especially that "cuttin' heads" scene.  Haven't seen it in years... I really gotta buy that one sometime!

Hey stepchild... maybe you should create a disclaimer signature saying something like:
"POSTING IN ALL CAPS IS JUST MY SIGNATURE STYLE; I'M NOT SHOUTING OR BEING HOSTILE, REALLY!"

But I wonder, how would you post if you ever DID want to shout or be hostile?  lol

Didn't Ry Cooder do all the guitar parts in that movie?

No, he did all the slide parts.  I think Stevie Vaiola did the rest.

It's a B movie at best. It's has a Dukes of Hazards mentality with an R rating without the chase scenes.

B grade at best?  hmmmm, pwawley only watch it twice wink My college boy said the music was better than the movie, but Samuel L Jackson was good as a beatdown sumpn sumpn.

THANKS!  Jim.

Yeah that is what I meant to write.  Sorry.

So I wonder if Steve Vai can even play slide very well?.....

I thought he did excellent in the movie.  And the movie seems to me like it was made for the soundtrack, not the other way around like usually, which is interesting.

That was one of the craziest movies I've ever seen! It's about a girl (Christina Ricci), who's addicted to sex, and Samuel Jackson (old blues guy) chains her up to his house to try to cure her!
Samuel Jackson does a pretty good job of fake guitar playing if I remember, and the music he fake plays is really good. It ranks up there with Ralph Macchio's fake guitar playing in Crossroads.

Sam Jackson actually learned how to play all the songs.  If you watch the special features on the DVD they talk about that.  I think that is really cool.
