I love everything about Robert Cray...my youngest brother turned me on to him in the 80's at this big party he was having while he was in law school and housesitting a huge mansion that was tied up in litigation over the will. The parties at that 'crib' were memorable and I can distinctly remember the first song I heard and it was unusual for me not to recognize something my brother would play, since he got most of his music from me!! I immediately went out and bought Strong Persuader and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark then a hits compilation...then bought most of his catalog more recently. I've yet to see Cray as the headliner, I need to see a full show. One of the Clapton fans recently mentioned a Live BBC recording available right now or very soon.
Guitar Messenger-if you look under general topics, sirius radio-Joe has played him on his show and talked about seeing Cray the first time.
Also...I'll stick my neck out and tell you Rocket's a good guy, huge Joe supporter, just misunderstood sometimes (which happens to many w/the internet)...since you're kinda' new here, you wouldn't know the legendary "Rocket" and your good intentions weren't under his radar for some reason. Looking forward to reading your interview & thanks for the post.
