WHAT THE HELL!!....I just checked this thread to see what Michael was talkin about...and I see this....thank you to all..."I'm just a mailman with store bought buns"...never mind that was a commercial that was on a few years back.....Roy I dropped my 1000 down for "Pittsburgh Jeff"....the dudes been so cool to me, sent me tunes of all these bands i never heard of...his BBQ sauce set...jokes, you name it...and he's hurting...so I had to send some love to him and his wife....if you read this Jeff, my hearts with you.
Guess I should explain how I even got on this forum.....if you want to read my introduction from last JAN? it will be more detailed....anyways it was Oct 2006 on a late night and nothing was on the boob tube....so I ask the wife to help me turn on the computer...yes you read this right!!...didnt even know how...always ripped on people (relatives) that were on it for hours...I remember saying to Deb..." your brothers a loser, dude has no life, the guy needs serious help"...well now IM THE ONE WHO NEEDS HELP...LMAO!!!
Let me make a long story short....I was looking for a new artist along the lines of SRV and Robin Trower....somewhere I saw a recommendation for this "JOE BONAMASSA"....my first thought was..."nobodys going to remember his name, it's way to long"...I know I mispronounced it for sure...so I thought hmm...lets see what this dudes got....I pulled up "Blues Deluxe"....within a short time I'm yelling for the wife to come in the computer room...I'm going frickin crazy...."this guys a monster, listen to this"....I've been listening to music my entire life...my first "gig' I went to was "the summer of love" in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco...I was 9 years old, the year 1967.....I know amazing guitar players when i hear them...that Bonamassa tone totally wrecked my head!....I bought EVERYTHING I could get my mits on with Joes music....i found to my delight that all his albums were a little different each time....my music taste varys also...so it fit like a glove...Deb found his tour schedule and says " he's playing 4 nights in a row starting on Dec 20 in Seatle"....I didnt hesitate a second...."were going, book the flight, hotel, car, everthing!"
We get to Seatle the day after the biggest storm the've had in years...the hotel nearly butted up to "Dimitris Jazz Alley" where Joe was playing...the first night he was sick as dog and was still great, the second night he was feeling much better.....tore the place up...women were screaming his name...he had to stop at one point to tell some lady from the balcony.... "I love you too!"...everyone was laughing themselves to death.
Let me fast forward a bit...I've seen Joe and the band something like 10 times since then..thats covered 4 states...had the great honor of meeting the man and shaking his hand as well as Carmine, Bogie, and Rick....but I have to say the best part out of all this is the friendships I've made here with so many of you....let me mention some names please:
