Re: What girls like?

From experience it could be possible that the guys like more bottom-end and the women prefer more top....in frequency termonology of course. wink

Re: What girls like?

Hi Geoff..I LOVE bottom, in tone at least..Don't like a booming bass but I like a "full" sound, like a Les Paul...Still think it's midrange for women..but what do I know? lol    Cathy

Cathy and Vic, I was all set to reply, but after reading these other posts, I think I really need a cigarette...and I don't even smoke.

ha ha ha.........this made me laugh out loud!!  You are so funny............

seriously, what does it for me???

the guitar solo in mountain time live,
the content of asking around for you
the vocals in sloe gin when joe hits that verse 'I hate to go home alone'
the personal connection with a live audience and his fans

damn....................he is just the whole package.

Re: What girls like?

Re: What girls like?

I like a whole bunch of things...really getting into some softer stuff now but I still love anything heavy and I'm a sucker for guitar solos like Cathy...except I'm not really into the shredding thing much. Partly because I know I'll never be able to do it smile and because most of the time I don't really feel anything in it.

Re: What girls like?

Addysea's post was so right on!  Lots of good music in high school and college (my Dad used to drop my younger brother and myself off at Boston Garden to see some awesome shows including 1969 Rolling Stones and Hendrix).  My kids grew up listening to a whole lot of different types of music and luckily for me we still have a lot of music we still like in common.  I have taken them to lots of concerts starting when they were 7 or 8 years old (although after watching the video of Nico mentioned in another thread I wish I had started with them earlier-what an awesome little kid!)

My oldest son kept telling me about Joe (he had seen him in Hartford and I thought he was nuts to drive so far for a show-we live near Boston), then I finally got to see him play at New Hampshire International Speedway.  He only played 3 or 4 songs, but man was I hooked!  Now I'm the one who says "Two hour drive-no problem"  "Have to stay overnight cause it's more than two hours away-no problem"  "Two nights in a row-let's go.  I'll get the tickets, you pay for the gas.  We've seen joe 6 times this year and it wasn't enough.

I can't explain why I like his music so much-I just do.  And I like all the different types Joe plays.  I am amazed how much I like his acoustic playing (I was always more of a LedZep-Stevie Ray kind of girl-and the louder the better).  When we go to his shows  all of us girls seem to like different songs than my son does (he just usually mumbles something about "show-off" in a very happy manner) and we are all grinning like idiots when we leave.

Can't wait to see what Joe will amaze us with this year, and girls, about that get-together in Maryland for a Joe show let me know and can I please come too-I love road trips!

Enough rambling. It's late.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.
"We're more old school than that. We like creating the sounds."  - Tom Petty

Re: What girls like?

Yes, Addysea's post was just right.  And I want to thank her (and you too, L) for inviting me to the Birchmere last year where I was just astounded.  I thought I was done with loud blues/rock since I hadn't heard anything inspiring in years, but...WOW!  She knew.  We'd been at the same Hendrix concert years before we met.  We went to hear bunches of bands in college...  She knew what hearing Joe would do to me and she wanted to share the experience.
Thank you.  And thanks for the Vegas invite.  It's almost here!!!
