Yeah my buddy saw Bo Diddlley at the "Mondavi"....swears it's the best venue for sound he's ever heard!!.....I've seen BB only at outdoor amphitheaters....doesnt do the man justice.

Re: BB King at the PAC - Appleton, WI

Ronnie Brooks (son of Lonnie) opened for BB last night.  If I heard of them before, I didn't remember them.  Great guitarist but too predictable in my opinion.  Regardless of what I thought, everyone else there seemed to love the band.  In the second song he did do a neat breakdown.  His bass player had great stage presence.

We were in the nosebleeds but it was still okay.  When BB came out everyone stood and gave him a standing ovation.  I'm only 5'2" so I couldn't see him until he was armed with Lucille and seated and everyone around us sat down.  As soon as I saw him I got a huge grin and my eyes welled up.   I love that man.  I don't care who you are you just gotta love him!  He has this presence about him . . . I can't believe he is 82--amazing!

I knew enough from interviews that he is a storyteller and that is just what he did.  I think I loved the stories more than the songs.  Sometimes, he backed up from the mic and I had to strain my ears to hear what he was saying.  Of course there were people yelling to him too--sorry that just irks me.  The vocals weren't loud enough for either band in my opinion.  It could have been where we were sitting too.  The songs I remember him playing were:

Every Day I have the Blues
When Love Came to Town
You are My Sunshine
Rock Me Baby
Thrill is Gone

I know I'm missing a few.  Seeing BB absolutely made my night.  His storytelling reminded me of Joe's show in Wausau a few months back.  I'm guessing that BB is why Joe does that.

Edited to add:  Sorry no pics.
