Topic: Amp/tone Guess the amp (hint you won't be able to tell by looking)

Alright, I was just now thinking about silverjubliee's thread about tubes and how tone is so subjective, you know, expensive pair of nos telefunkens,  bugle boys, etc.
And my thought went to tone with an amp when you don't know the manufacturer of the
amp.
Now, I don't have any sound clips of this, but I do have it up on you tube, but because I make
amp cabinets for myself (I don't sell them, can't get what their worth ) you'll have to use your
ears. I'm not saying whether or not it's an expensive boutique amp or a mass production
model. And this was for a political candiate, but I know the rules, and either ignore the heading
or whatever.. Actually it was for me to hear what my amp sounded like in comparison to
some other amps on the market, where thier video clips were done with the small camera mics too. Like indoor storm's vid on Fuchs media section.
Anyway, you get 3 guesses and if it's in there you win- you don't win crap of course but you
do win!

Use your ears, but I'm thinking how many amps could I id online? Probably only a few, and those with the settings that I've actually heard, therefore, now that I think about it, make it 5 guesses. Also, to make it worse, this was a 1-12 originally, and I put two 80's celestions in.

if i'm not violating anything, I'll post the winner (if any) tomorrow.
And of course these are GUESSES, but you get 5, so do use your ears, and just rattle off 5.
What it is will surprise some other's not.

Re: Amp/tone Guess the amp (hint you won't be able to tell by looking)

I'm going to third that! Some modeling amp...Line6 or Vox, or maybe a Tech21 (not really a modelling amp).  The more I think about it, it sounds very much like my Tech21 so in order:
Tech 21
Line 6
Vox valvetronix

I'm assuming it's plugged straight in with no pedals.  Very good and tastefull playing too!

Re: Amp/tone Guess the amp (hint you won't be able to tell by looking)

Its really tough...I could see it being a Line 6, but it sounds way too much like a high end tube amp...i cant wait to see the answer!

big_smile big_smile big_smile I think I'll change my second option! If I win I'll have to split the prize money too many ways. It's a Dr Z with a Fulltone drive pedal.

never give up, never slow down
never grow old, never ever die young
