Topic: Santa Ana Galaxy Theatre

Just found out that the Feb 1st show in Santa Ana is a double bill with an elder statesman of Black Sheep blues Robben Ford. Robben is doing some dates in support of his Grammy nominated album Truth. Joe of course with his better selling but somehow overlooked Sloe Gin.

This is a chance for the left coast to witness a pretty darn good display of unique styles. Robben from a Jazz angle and Joe from all angles.

As Joe said "A very cool way to warm up the new year."

Thats a done deal, sure hope those tickets go on sale quick...JDAWG is wearing a bib....to much salavating I guess...but we'll be there for sure!

Earth to J Dawg!!!! Thanks Jim, I was just looking at Robben's tour schedule last night and didn't put two and two together. I was focused on where he was playin' in NorCal. As it turns out Shred and I will be in Orange Co. for the San Juan show and plan on the Galaxy show too. The Coach House and the Galaxy are owned by the same people, however Robben's in San Diego the night before. This is a rare treat to catch Joe and Robben on the same bill, this makes the trip south well worth the effort now.

Oh man, this sounds awesome.  My schedule won't allow me to get out to it but I'll definitely be there in spirit and hope to hear a detailed blow by blow account of how the night goes.

Jim or anyone else- does anyone have a recording or know any of the details of when Joe first played with Robben at Leo Fender's birthday party, way back when, possibly in Arizona at their headquarters etc.??  Any details would be appreciated!  Thank you.

All I can tell you is Joe told me that he's known Robben for 17 years, if that helps answer your question. I sure hope Robben invites Joe out for a song or two when they play the Galaxy show.

Roy - I don't know planes so I didn't notice - although I did call the airlines prior to
booking just to make sure we weren't riding a "puddle jumper".
John Wayne quotes - how appropriate !
Our jet skiis are made by Bombardier - should be good planes.

Roy - yes the jet skiis do fly - but not on snow.  I'll take you out on Lake Michigan next
summer.  Anyway I'm glad to hear you're checking out the planes for us - I'm still
worrying about the pet sitter!

You guys will be in SoCal hrs. before Shred & I roll into town, I hope to find you all in a comfortably numb state by the time we hook up. Here's a driving tip, if it happens to be raining and you turn on the wipers the headlights have to be on too, new law as of Jan. 1. Trust me you don't want to meet any Orange Co. law enforcement.
