Topic: New Years resolutions

Good morning......just a few more days.... 2008.....Anyone want to share theirs with the whole world to see.....myself, I'll share 3 of mine with you.

I'm starting a diary......I want to write it as honest as possible, but some things can never be written on paper, they will go to my grave with me. Some of you will be in my book for sure, hope you dont mind.

The second item , is my health. A few months back I started slowly making changes. I have always consumed way to much alcohol to be considered a healthy body. So after going to see "Back door Slam" in Nov. i cut myself off of booze!! As i sit here today, I have probably 3 cases of beer in my garage, and at least 15 bottles of wine that I will be giving away as a gift to friends and neighbors. I did have a glass of wine a few days ago, a 92 point bottle of cab, dont need it, dont want it.....I started exercising back in November, was up to 5 days a week until this flu bug hit. I'm getting in decent shape, dropping lbs., toning up, building some muscle mass. I've only ate "fast" food 3 times in the last few months, so baby steps for me is the only way to acheive my goals.

Oh yeah, last but not least, I'm scheduling to have our family portrait done with my wife, kids and dog. Then the impossibile, my entire family of brothers and sisters.....that my friends will take a small miracle, some of them wont even speak to each other, I always feel like the mediater, bad blood is tuff to reason with........

Happy New Years to all of you!!

Dave

Re: New Years resolutions

Hey Dave

Best of luck with mediating for the family it must be one of the hardest jobs on the planet. Families are tough! Sounds like you have started your New Years resolution early and you are making a good job of it. I need to follow your lead and get fit in 2008. I will just get Hogmanay and Ne'erday past and get my arse in gear.

Re: New Years resolutions

Dave:
I really don't make resolutions per se... but....

I have resolved to do more towards working out my body again.  Made my mind up about that before Turkey Day.  It's working out slowly.  I feel better, again.

My biggest challenge is lack of organization (time management wise).  I have so many irons in the fire and I've allowed them all to bust out of the corral.  I actually started a scratch-schedule a day or so ago.  Ms.Tia said she'll do the books if I get back to writing and selling.  I have time to do it all if I don't get off task.

I will do what's important before I do what's urgent.  No they are not the same.

A log or journal (diary) is an amazing tool.  Did I serve today?  Principles practiced? or personalities get in the way?  What did I love today?  What knotted me up?  Progress made?

I will work on marketing my Salsa.

I will finish my (book) info product.

That's enough outa me, scary to see them in print.

Jeff

PS:  I will not mediate unless somebody pays me.  I have a heart breaking situation on my hands concerning my mother's small estate.  After years of sticking to the truth and my guns, they all agreed to pay me to fix it after I made it very clear that I was not interested in their petty posturing and vindicativeness.  They don't like me much, but they trust me.

Re: New Years resolutions

Roy and Jeff..Both stories show why estate planning is needed no matter how big or small........Resolutions, that's easy. For the most part I just use last year's..the usuals...health, get rid of "stuff", but, my REAL one for 2008 is to meet as many forum friends as possible..After Memphis, no plans until the U.S. tour dates are posted...I hope to see you all at a show!  (Roy, pay off those cards, I'm going to need a Sugar Daddy)     Cathy

Re: New Years resolutions

Thanks Roy...If Cathy needs a sugar daddy you should've kept the $600!  hmmmm might take more than that...never mind.

My only & baby sister said to me last month that it seemed funny that out of all the overachievers & bigshots in the family, the only one mom would not be worried about after all these years, is the uneducated scalawag who doesn't need the money.  Me!   I gots me a little bit.  Working on getting sum mo'.  Salsa & the Book! and the BAND!

Estate was planned, lawyer was disbarred.  But I digress.  My humblest apologies to Shred.  Let's share those NewYears resolutions, people.

I will agree to resolve to meet Forum Bonamaniacs.  Agreed then.  At a SHOW!

Much Love
Jeff

Hi Colin, did the shirt fit ok!!!......oh my family.....man thats tuff, since my mom passed in 2000, we never ever have been in the same room at the same time since. She was the heart and soul of everything that clicked.......alzheimers took her life so slowly, that it tore us apart....I'm the only one of the 5 siblings that keeps in contact regularly with each....maybe this year i can pull us all together.....gonna have to pray on that one!!

New Years resolution: stay away from doctors and hospitals, not necessarily nurses though.

Re: New Years resolutions

I forgot all about this Jane, thanks for bringing it back to life smile....I accomplished part of my goals...I want off the wagon only once in a year, and boy did I pay!!...my blood sugar must have been through the roof, I felt worse than any hangover ever, I'm back to doing what got my healthy and feel amazing....as much as I did to turn my health around, I am going to need a minor miracle to handle whats going on as I speak....please dont anyone ask me, not even in a private email, this is the heaviest situation I have ever encountered in my life...only have this to say "if you think you got problems, there is always someone who has it worse"....hey, lets lighten this party up.... shall we

Happy New Year!!

How did I ever get into this conversation? On the juice, Sugar Daddy, $600? lol You're not all talking about me, are you?

Anyway, got to get back to working out again, tendinitis in the left elbow put a damper on weight/strength training. And like you Mindy, I've been pushing away from the PC a bit, but I must admit, Facebook is quite a bit of fun and a nice tool to keep in touch with friends all over the world. smile

Oh, and I really want to get better at this guitar playing thing. My son really kicks my butt when it comes to playing. Of course for his size, he's got those long guitarist fingers like so many great ones do. wink
