Hey Jim,

Very good one: Russ Kunkel and Lee Sklar.
They were in a (studio?)band called : The Section and made one of the best Lp's ever: Forward Motion in 1973 on Warner Bros records. Inc., I put the LP  it on CD myself, but if anyone of the forum can get the Cd now I would be very, very happy! If it is on CD now of course.Danny Kortchmar, great producer afterwards, plays guitar and Craig Doerge on piano, moog, organ.

The song Get Down,Piltdown has the best basssolo ever  recorded, one solo, one song. If I'm right , not sure, both were on tour last year with Phil Collins.

Lee Sklar is the best studiobassplayer there is. He's on thousands recordings by hundred of artists. Russ Kunkel is a studiomusician as well.

I got the same feeling watching them with JB that I did watching Cream many years ago.  not similarities musically, necessarily, but the same feeling.  Impressive, but something not quite right, to me. 3 egos, maybe?  4 if you include mine...

True Jane!  I don't take anything away from these very talented players...any of them.  It's entirely subjective, made even more so by the fact that I'm a musician.

i guess its like that depending on what show it was?
its one of those 'you had to be there' type things for me, like the memories from the shows i attended are way better than watching the dvds, way, way

all i know is the live performances i have seen of them on video were amazing, i can only imagine how they would have been live.  kudos to those that actually got to see them back in the day.

Suhl,

I'm sorry that you didn't get to see them live, because I know you would have thoroughly enjoyed it.  But the great, fantastic news is that it was captured on 2 different DVDs(love that media) so you will always have it with you to enjoy.  It was great that Joe did that.  Eric and Kenny were always kind to us after the shows.

Happy New Year

Great example of the Dunaway/Smith rhythm section, from the album 'Killer':

Kind of dodgy video, but excellent song...
