Re: Gigliotti Prices just went up

I bought my JB GT Signature (Black to Tobacco burst) last December and with a few small extras it topped out at 2900 dollars. I can tell you all without a doubt it was easily worth the money and I would still say at 4000 it's a deal. They really are incredibly well made instruments and do have a completely unique sound. I have a few Gibsons - 1 is a really nice Les Paul Mahogany with 3 Seymour Duncans that was released for a short while back in 2003 I think. It's great - but it cost £2000 and is not as versatile as the Gigliotti. Every time I open the case on mine I get the same thrill as the first time I saw it (just wish I could play the thing worth a damn!) However I have many friends who can play well and they all reckon it's the greatest looking and sounding guitar they've played. If you can afford one, even if it is stretching things, then get one - you'll never, ever, regret it!

Re: Gigliotti Prices just went up

My wife bought me a JB GT for our 15th anniversary, Blue 50's tele style fat neck.  I think it was around $2700.  I own around 30 guitars, many more expensive than the Gig, but they give you alot for you money.  A second may be in the future, even at the higher expenses.  As much as its alot of  dough, small independent makers have to make it worth their while to do this.  It's worth supporting these people.
I had a recent conversation with Paul Reed Smith who said anyone who can align six metal strings and get it to sound right, much less look right has his respect!  Patrick does an exceptional job and with the small number he puts out at present, you certainly won't lose a dime.  True it's a matter of what you can or what your willing to put out for a guitar.  I have plenty of cheap and cheerful strats I play all the time, but there really is something different about a hand made quality instruments.  In my 20's and 30's these guitars were completely out of reach for me.  I am fortunate enough to still love guitars and can get what I want.

If heartaches were nickels, I'd have 35 cents!

Hey, Dr. Dave!  Brookeville, MD??  I live in Thurmont currently, but grew up in Bethesda and all around Monkey County.  Do you gig out with your beautiful guitars?  Jam locally?  Always looking for some new musical contacts.  Drop me an email using the link to the left of this post if you want to chat.

Where'd you chat with Paul?  We go way back, his dad used to be my mom's boss at the Department of Education (well, HEW) back in the 70's and I have one of the first guitars he ever built from before the factory.  He taught me my first real "lick"...Sunshine of My Love.  Great guy, awesome guitarist too.
