Topic: indigenous?? wake me up when it's over...

saw Indigenous tonight..
bored me to tears...
didn't get it!

Re: indigenous?? wake me up when it's over...

Maybe it was an off night for them.

When I saw them here just a couple weeks ago, I actually enjoyed the show. Had never seen them before and was pleasantly surprised. Wish I could say the same about Blues Traveler on Monday. Yawn.

I've only had the chance to hear them on CD, and to be honest, wasn't all that impressed, so chose to skip their show here the other night.  Aubrey, will be seeing you on the 27th my friend, I'll even buy you a drink in your own place, like you need that.

Absolutely, going to the Granada on Thurs, 8.0 Sun and your place following Thurs.  Kevin and Janis will be with me at all 3 also, at least that's the plan for now.

I don't get it guys.  I've seen Indigenous 6 or 7 times and they always rock the place. I will say that I haven't seen them with the new band yet tho.  I miss Wandbi...she's my honey.

Thats all.

Dead on Chris...Wandbi is fine!!!

I thought Mato was good looking myself. In a virile sort of way.

Re: indigenous?? wake me up when it's over...

I don't really like their first couple albums but love the last 2.  Second to last production quality is horrid and can't listen all the way through.  But like the music.  Last one I love.  But if I'd only heard the studio albums I wouldn't be overly jacked about a concert.  Although their Live at Pachyderm Studio album is AWESOME and you should check it out.  The cover of Red House is the best I've heard anyway.

I agree with you 100% Chris, I have seen them 3 times, and they kicked **** everytime.
I also have not seen the new band yet, but have heard the new CD and it is really good. Pte played on the new album but as I understand it he is not touring with Mato. Wandbi (yes she is gorgeous) is not on the new album, nor is Horse. So really this is Mato with a new supporting cast.
I have everything, all of their studio albums and Live At Pachyderm and they are all good.
I don't get it either.

Re: indigenous?? wake me up when it's over...

Some of their older stuff is pretty, um, muddy? Mushed together. The last couple were definitely better. Live, I thought they mixed it up quite well. The sound was good in the club, the band was ON, and the crowd was definitely into it.

Now, one of the bands I saw today falls into that UGH category. I shall refrain from mentioning names (likely not a band anyone here's heard of, but still...). The rest of the bands? Fantastic!

I guess I'm used to bands with more dynamics and sounds..
all the vocals sounded similiar and there was no vibe
in the room...
Remember, this is my opinion..
Don't mean to step on any fans toes..
I'd rather hear philip sayce, Joe bonamassa,
anthony gomes, and others....

Re: indigenous?? wake me up when it's over...

Just a good ole fashioned blues-rock trio. When I saw them, they laid waste to the stage, and this was going on after KWS. Musically Mato's on another planet. Their stage show could use a little excitement, but that's always secondary to the music anyway, or should be.

Gotta agree with you Deez.  You won't see Mato jumping around the stage and working the crowd...but man can he play, and I always thought they were wonderful live.  When they opened up for Jonny Lang, and also for Buddy Guy and Double Trouble, the crowd was buzzing after.

The new bassist puts on quite a show all on his own. I have pics of him, but not many. And for the life of me, I can't remember the new band members' names and their tour manager hasn't emailed back yet. Anyone else have the info?
