1. Bonametal or BUST!
2. First time I heard of Joe was summer of 2004, Onieda Casino GreenBay opening for Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
3. First time I met Joe was October 2004 In Appleton, WI at Mills Creek Blues. My hands were on the stage.
4. No hearing aids were available - I was told by the t-shirt salesmen to just put cigarette butts in my ears... I opted for toilet paper.
5. My first date with my girlfriend was at a Joe concert at Shank Hall - Milwaukee WI in Jan/Feb of 2005. A techno/pop listener...she said "I just realized what I listen to isn't REALLY music..." she loved the show and got to meet Joe afterwards...
6. Shank Hall was feature on the Rockumentry or Mockumentry Spinal Tap...although the current Shank Hall is not the one filmed on the movie...Shank Hall was a made up name for a UWMilwaukee hall at that time.
My message quote is a tribute to the movie....
7. The first CD I bought of Joe's was Had to Cry Today....or the message board acronym HTCT.
8. HTCT made me look up who Blind Faith was. I couldn't believe Steve Winwood and Clapton were in a band. Being a child of the 80's really warps one's perspective when it comes to music...even Rod Stewart. I digress.
9. The first time I saw a Gigliotti, I thought it was one of a kind, and probably hard to find out info on. Turns out you can get one if you can afford it and there's plenty of info on their site!
I love the Gigliotti with the black to tobacco sunburst and the Joe Barden pickups....where has that one been?
10. Joe shows up at guitar stores... It was great seeing him at Interstate? Music in Milwaukee in October of 2005...it was even my buddy's birthday (he couldnt make it) so I called him up and Joe wished him a happy birthday. It was the last show of the tour I believe.
11. Living in Michigan is not as good as living in WI. Sorry MI'ites. I miss the Packers and the awesome venues Joe plays at. Joe needs to play Summerfest again in Milwaukee. If any of you don't know what Summerfest is... look it up! Its only the biggest music festival in the world.
12. I registered here in 2006? That cannot be right!
I used to frequent the KWS message board...but when The Place You're In came out...there was major drama going on. I like it here and haven't looked back too much. Maybe here and there. I know Deezer is the KING over there! HI DEEZ!
13. AND THEN there's the live shows. I love collecting Joe's live shows on CD. There are some really great performances I'm glad that I got to hear. I have some shows I've attended and its the perfect souvenier
14. I'm glad there was a positive response with playing in Wausau Wisconsin. The upper part of WI doesn't get any attention from big bands. WXPR public radio is great! Blues Friday! Bluegrass Saturday! I miss Brother Bill though...
15. The Joe interviews are great too. There's the usual BB King reference, but after that there's usually some good nuggets of info I haven't heard yet.
16. Speaking of BB, all the KWS or SRV or whatever references are now irrelevant.
Joe is on a Les Paul now...a guitar that makes you unique. Anybody who's ever picked up a fender is instantly compared to jimi, clapton, etc... listen blindfolded.
dont get me wrong excellent guitar players are on les pauls, but it doesn't have the comparason stigma of a strat.
17. The Blues In The Schools thing is priceless. Enough Said.
18. I once heard Joe plays with remote control cars to keep his hands off guitars...wonder if he still does that?
