Topic: Ho, Ho, Hoey, Merry Axemas!! everyone
Loading up the ol' Ipod with some holiday music...just wanted to share a few cool Yuletide thoughts with my musical bretheren n' sisteren.
Tired of listening to Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas"? Check out any or all of Gary Hoey's "Ho Ho Hoey!" CDs (I think there are three and a "Best of") A refreshing new (instrumental) take on some of those ol' chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
Also for you guitar-nuts, a collection masterminded by one of my personal favs other than Joe....Little Stevie Vai....there are (at least) 2 great CD's (Merry Axemas: A Guitar Christmas and More Guitars for Christmas - Vol II) featuring new approaches to the Christmas songs you know and loved as a child: Here's a sample listing:
1. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer - Kenny Wayne Shepherd
2. First Nowell - Eric Johnson
3. Amazing Grace - Jeff Beck
4. Jingle Bells - Brian Setzer Orchestra
5. Silent Night/Holy Night Jam - Joe Satriani
6. Joy to the World - Steve Morse
7. Christmas Time Is Here - Steve Vai
8. Blue Christmas - Joe Perry
9. Drummer Boy - Alex Lifeson
10. Cantique de Noel (O' Holy Night) - Richie Sambora
11. Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - Radwan Hoteit
Last but not least, for you fans of LA fusion....check out Steve Lukather & Friends' "SantaMental" featuring EVH, Edgar Winter, Steve Vai and others.
Hope everyone has a happy, healthy holiday season!
