Topic: Black Stone Cherry Anyone?

I have no idea if BSC are well known or not, but I think they rock like crazy.  Sort of Metal meets Southern Rock.  Great guitar work (not Joe but then who is) and the lead singer has a great voice.  Plus these guys have the Kevin Shirley seal of approval (he mixed their self-titled cd).  Thank God there are some young bands that rock out there (these guys, Wolfmother, etc.).

Yes, Black Stone Cherry rocks! You can hear their entire album on their website, just give the webpage time to load and it will start playing. I grabbed their album off iTunes just recently, and was listening to it on the way to work this morning.  http://www.blackstonecherry.com

Yes, I heard about these guys about a year ago. The radio station in Harrison loves them like crazy. They even brougt them there for a show. I couldn't go because I had Resident Assistant training in Russellville. sad

I think it was the drummer.

Re: Black Stone Cherry Anyone?

It is the drummer and yes these guys do rock.....

I have a great story about BSC. I actually bought their cd when it first came out awhile back (thanks again to XM radio exposure) and I'm one to read liner notes and visit band web sights........well let me cut to the chase.

Last summer my family and I went to Memphis Tn. for our summer vacation and to take my mother in law to Graceland (huge Elvis Fan). Some might remember that I posted before we left asking forum members if they had been to Memphis and for things to do/see.
Well the day we are at Graceland I'm in a gift shop and I see this guy that I think looks very familiar and after awhile it clicks........it's Ben Wells one of the guitar players from BSC so I ask the guy he's with if my assuption is correct and YES it is.

Bens friend introduces me to Ben and we chat for about 10min (Ben cant beleive that some old dude-my words not his, he is way to nice to say that- from California recognizes him at Graceland). Come to find out that Ben is a huge Elvis fan and he is there to buy a TCB (Takin' Care Of Business- an Elvis trademark saying) necklace since he broke his original in England when they were there.

Ben tells me that they are playing in Memphis that night at a place called Newbies, gives me directions to the club
and tells me I should come check them out. I'm thinking to myself "yeah right, with my kids, wife and mother in law on our vacation" and then after we are done talking my wife says "we should go (she is waaaaaaay to cool), my mom can stay with the kids at the hotel" my eyes light up and I say "I'd love to".

We go to the show, talk more to Ben (who can't beleive we are there), meet the rest of the band (all very nice guys-that southern thing is so true), and have a great time. And yes, the drummers dad, the dude from The Kentucky Headhunters is there.

Sorry long post.

Re: Black Stone Cherry Anyone?

They sounded good for a hard rock act. Very loud, distorted and VERY energetic but, hey I'm into the harder rock stuff also. Highlight was when they did a cover of a Johnny Cash song and Rick Derringers Rock n Roll Hoochie Coo.
I must say the singer sounded very good even though he told me after the show that he was nursing a sore throat (might have been from the cigaretts he was smoking.......just a thought).
I will definenatly go see them again. As a matter of fact I check their schedule often to see if they are headed to the west coast.
