Topic: Bose system

I have a shot at buying a Bose Lifestyle 25 system for 650.00   It has a 6 cd changer, the 5 little dbl cubes and the bass module.  It's 5 years old.  Wondering if anyone has one or would care to comment on Bose systems.  I'm not looking to rattle the windows, prefer more of a clean sound. And who better to ask for advise than all the fine music lovers here.
THANKS in advance for any input.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: Bose system

I've been dreaming of a Bose myself, preferably a home theater system... maybe someday.  All the reviews I've read in electonics magazines always put Bose on top for sound quality... wider frequency range or something... of course they're on top for price too.  I wasn't aware Bose even had a 6-disc changer 5 years ago, but then again I'm not up on their whole product line.

Re: Bose system

Hi Jeff...I don't have a big Bose system but I have the docking station for my i-pod. Honestly, it could replace my system, it's that good. I like ambience in my music and Bose has always had that element in their design. My granddaughter's music teacher only used the Soundwave in class and the sound was exceptional. I'd say go for it!!! Cathy

Re: Bose system

BOSE is XLNT quality. It BETTER be for the price you're charged. IF I were in the market now, it'd be BOSE.

I'm still an old-school stereophile, amp, 2-channels, & some sweet-assed 20 year old  JBL 4412 Studio Monitors. Some things just shouldn't be tampered with !

I have heard those Bose docking stations and YES they sound incredible.  This system I'm looking at is the home theater set up with the little cubes all around the room and the big bass module/sub woofer.  My wife says can't believe you would spend 700 on something thats used and 5 years old.  When I told her the same set up is 2 grand at Best Buy/CC she now understands.
I do like a real clean sound with some balls. And I think that's what I'll get with the Bose.

And <G> can't argue with your set up. Classic JBL's from back when speakers were built right. Real wood, probably weigh 50 lbs each. I just need a more compact set up for my living room.   Thanks all.

Re: Bose system

We own several Bose products, including 5 of the little cubes. Don't remember what it is called, as we have had it for 10 years or so. It also came with the bass module. We run it from our Onkyo surround receiver and the only modifications we have made are we use an additional powered sub-woofer and we replaced the center channel cube with a Bose center channel speaker. It is very high quality, versatile for movies/music or whatever. In the configuration we use it, it definitely will rattle the windows and its good at all levels up to MAX. Two thumbs up...LOL.

We also have the Acoustic Wave Music System. It's a great product as well.

That's what I was hoping to hear. Question Phil, Does the bass module/sub have it's own amplifier and all the little cubes plug in the sub? Or do you have to run it thru like your Onkyo?

And Joe Beacon, This set up I'm looking at has the dbl cubes, so it would be 10 in total. Sounds like what I'm looking at.  Thanks

Re: Bose system

you have to run the sub into your own amp . then the sub has speaker lines you run into the amp and the other lines run out of the sub into the speakers ...joe

Re: Bose system

Thanks Joe. Looks like I'm gonna get this set up for 400.00  The guy needs $$$  and I have some. He wanted 800, I offered 400 and he bit. Now got to go amp/reciever shopping and a region free dvd player. Any suggestions?

I know this is a little late, but my Home Theatre system has a 300 Watt Athena subwoofer, 4 Klipsch surround sound speakers and 1 Klipsch front channel speaker. They're amped up by a Sony surround sound receiver and I have a Sony Up-Convert DVD player. Any audio DVD, like Joe's "ANDY" or "Live at Rockpalast", can actually make the walls shake in the sunroom which is not adjacent to the family room where the system is located. Previously, I had SONY surround speakers and a Sony subwoofer, but the Klipsch speakers are far and away the best speakers I've ever had. And the Athena subwoofer. Oh my, oh my, Earth shaking magnitude! I once registered a 6.4 on the Richter scale in the Midwest region. They thought the fault line that runs through Missuori let loose, but it was just me home alone one summer Saturday afternoon. Hey, when you're outside you've got to hear it the same as if you're inside, right? smile

Don't you just love listening to music cranked up?

Roy "What? I can't hear you!" BluesMan

Couldn't agree more, nothing like home alone, wifey shopping.  Me, my dog and 1000 wats of pure musical enjoyment. I just bought a pair of Klipsch computer speakers. HOLY &^%$#%^*, They rattle windows.   Love them! Thanks Roy

Re: Bose system

You might want to consider wireless headphones Roy, for when you're not alone. I have Sennheisers and love them. I use them more than my speakers. But then again, I do live in my own little world!  lol                  Sister Cate

Re: Bose system

I bought a Toshiba dvd player off Craigslist for 20 bucks, not region free so I can't watch my Back Door Slam dvd. Only on the Dell. I saw a Denon 7.1 reciever/ amp that got rave reviews at Circuit City that is probably the one I'm going with. I'm waiting to hear about the Bose speakers. If he doesn't take the 400 I may just get a complete Denon system.  I really like the Bose cubes though. Damn so many decisions.   It all started with the 42" hi def tv I bought last winter.      Christmas, got to love it.

I remember you getting that TV last year and didn't you say next year for the stuff you're getting this year as far as a new surround system???!!!

We have one of those- it sounds AMAZING- some of the best sound of any stereo I've heard.  Those Bose guys really know sound!

Re: Bose system

when you get a amp make sure it will play 24/96 recordings . most cds are 44.1/16 or 48/16 . the new recordings everyone is doing is 24/96 so keep your eyes open for that . i just bought a sony and it handles everything for music and everything for dvds ..joe
