Hello Angela,

les Dudek,

He's great too.
Best songs: Sad Clown and What a sacrifice?

Have 3 Lp's  :
- Les Dudek
-Say no more
-Ghost town parade.

This is really nice: have so much music from the guitarist mentioned on this item, now I'll start listening again to them!!
Almost forgotten I had it all.

Thanks people!

and Old Judge Jones and Central Park... Hey the first two were superb and the third was also OK......

Re: Favourite Guitarists

Geez... Amsterhammer...I'm going to add you to my chanting of Nobody Knows You When You're Down & Out...just kidding.  I am in a frustrating, non-ambulatory mode right now, can't get to the post office too well in my cast...BUT if a US Bonafan has an idea how much postage to put on a standard CD mailer w/1 CD, I think its possible you'll get it. smile

Cool about Les Dudex...gonna' add him to my Christmas list.  Sidetrack...I wish there was a album to CD conversion genie out there for all my albums. big_smile  I was thinking of starting a thread a while ago on... Who has the most obscure albums in their old collection.  Anyone remember this band, Stories? Bandmembers went on to work w/ Peter Frampton, Foreigner...

Re: Favourite Guitarists

Angela those first three Dudek's are available on CD as is his excellent Blues album, A Deeper Shade of Blue (altho I have to add the title track is a blatant rip of Still Got The Blues) bwahahaha

Re: Favourite Guitarists

Some that need mention and haven't so far (unless I missed them)

Freddie King
Buddy Guy
Albert Collins
Coco Montoya
Hubert Sumlin

And a few more obscure names
Taj Mahal (not so much for flash playing, but an excellent musician)
Snail's-Pace Slim (The Hamsters, don't doubt them if you haven't seen them)
Billy Gibbons (under appreciated for his influence)
Robert Johnson
Elmore James
Vinnie Moore (I usually don't have much time for shredders, but UFO makes this guy awesome)

Re: Favourite Guitarists

Vinnie was awesome LONG before UFO:

Re: Favourite Guitarists

Oh I agree he's long been a fantastic player. I've seen him twice though now. The first time was a Music Man Guitars clinic, which was him doing his solo virtuoso stuff, which was excellent to watch but disinteresting to listen to, as I find most shred/virtuoso.
My second time seeing his though was with UFO, which was a different experience all together. Suddenly put in a rock context he lights up, an awesome player who becomes an actual act rather than just a showcase of techniques.

Re: Favourite Guitarists

I've spent many years searching for good players to listen to & consequently, my tastes have become a little eclectic.

In no particular order....

Joe Bonamassa
Andy Latimer
Roy Buchanan
Al Di Meola
SRV
Stochelo Rosenberg
Leslie West
Isaac Guillory
Albert Collins
Grant Green
Steve Howe
Jimi Hendrix
BB King
Paco De Lucia
Stephen Stills
Clive Carroll
Robben Ford
Phil Guy
Michael Hedges
Jimmy Page
Tommy Emmanuel
Paul Kossoff
Joe Walsh
Birelli Lagrene
John McLaughlin
Walter Trout

There's more, but these guys tend to do it for me.

John Cipollina of Quicksilver Messenger Service....

Re: Favourite Guitarists

Don't believe I saw Dave Hole mentioned! If you like amazing electric slide guitar you owe it to yourself to check this guy out. Purple haze using slide- you bet!
