Topic: New Video on You Tube

Doug Pinnick of Kings X joins the band for an encore performing Mr. Big an old Free song. This is from the 10/05/07 show at The Stafford Center in Houston Texas. Thank Mike W for getting it up on You Tube after many futile attempts.

Re: New Video on You Tube

The filming seems rather professional, makes me wonder if there is more from the show?

Re: New Video on You Tube

The show was video taped by the venue for display onscreen during the show. A copy was given to Joe. I asked permission to upload this track. I have seen the entire show and the footage is quite good. The audio is a soundboard feed front of house mix. Joe just wanted to share this with the fans.

Re: New Video on You Tube

Thanks to Joe, Doug, Jim, and MikeW.  This is fantastic stuff.

Re: New Video on You Tube

What a killer song, Doug has monster vocals...very passionate in a R&B sort of way.  His style of singing brings so much to the table with some extra stuff...like the little chuckle and the screams.  Thanks for the post, really good, love that kinda' song!

Re: New Video on You Tube

Phil was with Joe much of the day of show and he never saw them rehearse it. They worked on it in OKC in May during soundcheck. Doug wasn't there but he must of known the song. I would venture a guess and say it was pretty much a one take performance.

Re: New Video on You Tube

That day sound check was done in normal fashion. Doug was not there at the time.

We left with Joe and Bogie directly after sound check, and returned during Crosby Loggins' set. Doug was at the venue shortly after we returned, so he must have been able to speak about it with Joe and the band prior to the performance, but not much time.

So I'd call that a one take performance.

Pretty good on all parts, if you ask me.

Cool as hell too. Lots of people in Joe's demographic were attending college in the Houston area during King's X hey day. Needless to say there were a bunch of fired up people due to that encore. A true experience.

i must need to listen to some kings x.  this is the third of three all time favorite bands for me doug pinnick has now performed with.  if this isnt fo rthe dvd someone must have had some very very special permisson to make this video. forgetting the multiple camera angles and good video quality that is obviously a soundboard recording.  i hope there is some news on this dvd someimte in the near future i am really looking forawrd to a new joe live dvd

Re: New Video on You Tube

This recording has nothing to do with a live DVD for release. This was shot at the Stafford Centre, in Stafford, TX (Houston). The video equipment is part of the house's rig and was used by the promoter to project the performance on a giant screen above the stage during the show. They also recorded it for Joe and provided him a copy at shows end. Even though this recording is obviously not done by some guy with a camcorder, it is a raw recording and has enough imperfections that it would need a lot of work prior to release -- aside from all the normal permissions that would be needed to make a live DVD happen.

Too many imperfections, really (video), but still great stuff even if I wasn't there! Thanks Joe for letting it loose on the 'net! Good stuff indeed when you are like me...Joe-in-sin (for a concert performance)...Doug seems to not know exactly how he wants to embellish the ending, but it's still great.  I'm thinking of changing my name to Doug.  Dougs seem to  get to sing with Joe!
Thanks for tagging on the Free video Phil cool
