Topic: Excitement: Thy name is Devin Hester

I don't care if the Bears are 5 and 6! Getting to watch Devin Hester every week is a treat. He is just absolutely sick!
I don't know what Denver was thinking kicking to him yesterday, but I'm sure glad they did.
There have been some exciting return guys, but Chicago has had two of the best.
I speak statistically: Gale Sayers TD returns 1 out of every 15, Devin Hester 1 out of every 13. Nobody even close to those two as far as those stats.
Has there ever been anybody better that Hester??

Re: Excitement: Thy name is Devin Hester

Kick returns are the football equivalent of home runs in baseball. Nothing lights up the crowd like 'em. I've been watching the college version of Devin Hester for the last 2 years in Berkeley. Junior Cal WR DeSean Jackson lights it up on Sat. like Hester does on Sun.'s, that is when the opponents will kick the ball anywhere near him. Josh Cribbs of the Browns is a very dangerous return man too.

Re: Excitement: Thy name is Devin Hester

Hesert is the best thing to happen to the Bears since Walter. I just wish they used him more in regular play. And too bad about Benson...not. Adrian Peterson was incredible picking up the whole Denver front line and carrying them over the goal line. What a fun game!

Hopefully they do the same thing to Eli next week. big_smile

I'm just saying.

He reminds me of watching Desmond Howard back in the '95 season for the packers...when he got superbowl MVP. The kickoff of last year's superbowl was REALLY fun to watch.

oh yeah- go packers!

BluesMan, if I still lived in Milwaukee, I'd be knocking on your door.
I had NFL Network last year, and was somewhat unimpressed with quality vs. cost. I agree with Jerry Jones - it should be part of basic cable. It would cost all cable subscribers an additional 80 cents a month. drop in the bucket.

well, lets take us all back to 1995. the packers went 14-2. they lost to the Chiefs and the Cowboys. Then, they beat the Cowboys in the playoffs. This year, however it goes - I hope we beat them when it really counts.

Bill,

Tonight, The REAL America's Team (THE Green Bay Packers) play the pretending to be America's team. Unfortunately, if you don't subscribe to the NFL Network you may not be able to watch the game. However, if you want to drive to my home, one of our local stations will have it on and it will be broadcast in High Def. Hey, you can even come up and drink my "Wisconsin" beer for free! Your know the way or should I send directions again? big_smile

Roy

Does that invite apply only to Bill?  How far from Wausau to Menominee Falls??  I'm teasing... but I am VERY upset that i don't get to see the game.  Even though MY family summer vacations growing up consisted of going to Packers Training Camp - my HUSBAND gets to go to the bar to watch it while I stay home with the baby.  I guess it's the price I pay for going to Gomes in Milwaukee then JB in Green Bay recently.  Although I have to say... Joe Bonamassa... Packers... tough to choose!!  Especially when your blood is green and gold smile

Roy,
I appreciate the invite, but my alarm goes off at 5:20AM during the week. I'm lucky if I can stay awake at my own house, let alone 90 miles away. You have fun, and you may find it hard to believe but I'm pulling for the Packers tonight. Us midwesterners need to stick together!
Oh yeah, when I have to start paying JUST to watch football....I'm done. Don't encourage the bast**ds! Boycott the NFL Network!

Hey Bill....is that guy from the same planet as the rest us....he broke 2 touchdowns today...he might be the most exciting kick returner since my alltime favorite collegiate player....Johnny Rodgers from the Unversity of Nebraska.....that guy could make ankles snap on returns....yall remember the Orange Bowl when he went off...

Re: Excitement: Thy name is Devin Hester

My friend told me they had a contest for a knickname for Hester. the winner was an 8 yr old who came up with The DEVINATOR.He is the most exiting player in football right now.Too bad the Bears couldnt capitalize on all the great field position he helped create for them.Oh well  there's always next year.

Re: Excitement: Thy name is Devin Hester

As I pointed out earlier in this topic Joshua Cribbs of the Browns is on the same level as Hester. He ran another one back today against the 49ers and he does something Hester doesn't. The Browns utilize Cribbs' speed on kickoffs too and he made the lead tackle twice today as well as returning kicks. It was as if he was letting the 9ers know this is my house and I'm puttin' on the show. I'll take that 10-6 record even though the Colts laid down against the Titans to keep us out of the wildcard spot. It looks like the Browns have turned the corner and I expect to see them in the playoffs next season.

Dave,
I was at the game Sunday and it was a thing of beauty. When Devin cut back left on that return, it looked for a moment like he might get caught...then he turned on the afterburners and left a group of Saints eating dust.
You may be right...he could be from another planet!

Have other teams started kicking away from Cribbs?
The Bears had outstanding field position the entire second half of the season because most teams chose not to kick the ball to Mr. Hester. The Bears frequently started at their 40 or 45 yard line (or better) because the other teams would kick the ball short to keep it out of his hands.
