Topic: Leads/Cables....
Here's a real geeky question and we may have been here before (sorry but I'm getting old ) but I just have to ask. What leads/cables does Joe use? George L's, Evidence Audio???? Joe?

Mogami cables for everything. I use a silent Neutrik end so you dont hear and pops or that annoying buzz sound when you switch guitars. Go to Tour Supply and they'll have them. Not cheap but not uber expensive like some of that other stuff I ve tried. Some of it cost as much as a car.. crazy ..

Thats news to me. For some reason I thought you were using Planet Waves?
Thanks, will have to check them out!
Thanks Joe, I hadn't heard of Mogami. You're not wrong though....I've seen some cables that are way too expensive. That's why I like George L's. High quality but not going to rip a hole in your wallet. We have the silent Neutrik's at work, a great idea that actually works.

I used a planet wave for a couple years for the guitar lead only. Once neutrik came out with the silent ends I was thrilled to switch. PW are ok but super unreliable. I think I went through 50 in a year.

Joe, considering where you are now in your career have considered having a boutique amp maker build you a 'JB Signature' head? I don't know if you're aware of a couple of really great guys in the UK...Dennis Cornell who made a great amp (among other models) for Eric Capton called the Custom 80 and Paul Cornford who makes amps with an amazing sound that have a tone that I've heard a few people compare to 'dark chocolate'......not sure if that makes sense but when you hear 'em it kinda does. Obviously there are a lot of great boutique makers out there....I just wondered if it's something you'd thought about as I hear your name mentioned more and more in the guitar store where I work.
Also, (yep...another question for ya ) have you heard of Nik Huber? He's an amazing guitar maker from Germany. You really should check out his Dolphin model.....it's an astonishing hand made guitar that I think you'd enjoy playing....very versatile.....has a feel like 'an old friend' that you've been gigging for years.
Category 5 makes a Joe Bonamassa Signature head. 100watt 68 plexi style head with a mid boost switch. Awesome sounding amp. It sits on top of the Jubilee in his current rig. I think the Carol Ann is also a JB signature JB-100.
Thanks skip. I seem to recall hearing about this (the old grey matter doesn't work as well as it used to ) Has it been reviewed in any guitar mags at all and is anyone marketing it?

Hello Joe-
Which Mogami cable are you using?
I've noticed there is a GOLD and PLATINUM guitar version with the Neutik silent plug.
The Platinum says 3302 on it.
The Gold says # 2524
Thanks for your reply.
what do you all think of monster cables? Im trying a few out, although quite pricey ($25 for .75 ft pedal cable). the lifetime warranty comes in handy, i had the tip break off the acoustic cable, and i just took it back to the store for a completely free replacement.

I had a Spectraflex cable that crackled out after two months. Those had warranty too - I didn't bother. I'd rather find a good cable.
