Ouch is right Jeff. Every band was shear torture. I won't waste my time watching that mess again. What a joke from start to finish. Man I wanted to like the Muggs hopping they would be the one bright spot on the show but I couldn't get past the vocals either. The only band I actually thought covered an Elton John song well was the Blue Grass band.
Yeah, as much as I like them, that Elton John cover sucked. Bad choice for them. They sounded ragged tonight, like they didn't rehearse. Very un-together, and that's the first time I've ever heard them sound bad. They did dedicate the first song to Howlin' Wolf. Too bad the majority of the audience never has heard of Wolf.

I know you said you weren't going to watch again, but did you? I have to agree with you on the shear torture thing regarding last week, but most of the bands stepped it up this week. The only performance I didn't care for was Franklin Bridge.
I'm digging the Clark Brothers Band this week. The Muggs and Rocket have been eliminated.
No I didn't watch and I didn't DVR it either. That was the way I got through it last week by skipping ahead the more intolerable bands. I did like the blue grass bands Elton John cover. I just didn't get it why they were even on the thing. I have to fess up. I am an American Idol fan and they manage to find talented people. I just thought every band on the show was average at best and Rocket being just plain terrible. Not you Rocket but the chick band on the show.
The chick band was terrible. I was embarrassed for them. I know what you mean about average at best. I can think of a dozen talented bands from my area who blow any of these bands out of the park.

Jim, don't let that performance turn you off The Muggs. Their debut album is hot. But based on that performance, and speaking as a supporter of the band, they sucked big time. This is The Muggs I know :

I watched last nights episode and I had a hunch the Muggs weren't gonna move on. I've listened to there stuff and they strike me as another SRV style band, (I didn't wanna say wannabe). It's no wonder Joe has strayed from that sound, there's just too many of them these days. Overall I was surprised at how well all the bands dealt with the Billy Joel subject matter. These shows are tough to swallow because after my friend Andrew Beal was on Americas Got Talent last summer and he told me its all pretty much pre-determined regardless of the texting and phone in votes. Thats why he had to sign a confidentiallity waiver to compete. We couldn't get a word out him the whole time he was still competing for fear of being DQ'd. What the hell though, its what the mindless minions want as far as TV goes these days.

I dig The Steepwater Band too, although I think they were better as a 4 piece with a front man. 'Revelation Sunday' is a good album, but their previous one 'Dharmakaya' was excellent. The Muggs are more in the tradition of Cactus and Led Zeppelin than SRV, very much influenced by the early 70's scene. Danny Methric is a monster player for that style of music.

The Muggs don't sound at all like SRV. Like Kieth said more along the Cactus, Zep, sound. I like to refer to them as a cross between Mountain and Cream. Hey Kieth, check your e mail.
