Topic: pedals

Hello all....
I am on that never ending search for my perfect tone. HA! If i am playing through a fender deville hotrod amp and using a ibanez tube screamer, a tremolo pedal, uni-vibe, vox wah, boss DD-3 delay, and maybe a few other pedals ( i have plans to get a marshall jcm and an ab/y box to use both at once). Which pedals should go through the effects loop and which pedals should go straight into the amp?

Thanks for the help,
Logan

Re: pedals

Time based pedals generally go through the loop: delay, chorus, flange etc. In the front end (between guitar and amp) plug in any distortion/overdrive pedals, wah etc. The aren't any rules really or Jimi wouldn't have played with his teeth smile so try stuff out......although you'll usually find that distortion/overdrive through the loop sounds awful because of where it's sits in relation to the pre-amp and/or output tubes. Hope this helps.

Re: pedals

what gsj said.

plus try out the pedals both ways and see which sounds better. My fuzz pedal sounds better through my fx loop for some reason and my wah is better through the amp, they sound horrible the other way round. Depends on your amp too I guess.
