VERY NIIIICE !
Exceptional song!!!
It marks the first "Joe song" I heard on the radio! By the way everyone, Sirius encourages requests and comments!!
VERY NIIIICE !
Love the song, and the solo might be the best on the disc. It's just classic once Joe starts wailing away at about the 2:15 mark.
Edited to add . . . Well, it might be the best solo after Sloe Gin. And I reserve the right to change my mind further.
Hi dude-You are entitled to change your mind, I feel the same way & hate doing favorites, both really great songs! Since you mentioned the 2:15 mark, I want to comment on Dirt in My Pocket at about the same time. Since the first time I heard it (like India), I had such a Beatlesque moment!! I remember a long time ago talking about covers and you mentioned you were a big Beatles fan, so I was wondering if you picked up on that? (I guess I'm enjoying the strings addition more than I realized initially.) I've been behaving like a Beatle fan, just can't seem to stop analyzing the whole CD!!! Pretty soon we'll be playing it backwards looking for hidden messages from Joe...

I agree Dude, it's my fav. from the album. If that was slotted as a so called "B side" from the album, I would have moved "Seagull' to fit in the top 6. Just my opinion though.
Shred
I just want to add that this song is very sexy! Blush, Blush Cathy

Hi Angela,
I´m also a great Beatles fan ... actually my whole intrest in the Blues started with the Beatles! I also thought about the Beatles connection when I heard the strings in the backround - and I really had a laugh about the "hidden messages"...
Hi Eva,
Have you been to where the Beatles played in Hamburg? I've never been to Germany, but would love to visit someday. I know 2 people who were exchange students at our school here and I got to know them through a carpool since one lived 2 doors away...also Beatles fans and their dad was a music professor in Germany. (Johanna & Toby) I hope you are not overdosing your boyfriend on chocolate. My husband has really wild dreams if he eats too much chocolate before bed!

Awesome song. I'm still not able to pick out a favorite, which is a tribute to Joe and Sloe Gin.
Black Night is in the running though!
My roommate is downstairs playing this song right now and sounding pretty good. It's his favorite. He's been away at work (Amtrak) since Thursday so it was straight into the house and to his guitar. He's probably worn the CD out!!! Cathy
Yeah, this one is my favorite and should be a definite radio hit.
Angela, I totally agree on India. I love this song. Joe should do more in this vein.
Here's a good question, why does Joe credit Charles Brown on Black Night, when Charles only performed the song? It was written by a Jessie May Robinson, who is who all the Blues guys credit for it when ever it get's covered. Example being, Buddy Guy on the album Damn Right I've Got The Blues, he credits Robinson, also Lil Ed on the album Heads Up, also credits Robinson.
Sloe Gin is 3 months old today and I was listening to it this morning, still really hooked on Black Night. After 3 months and still appreciating Sloe Gin entirely on many levels, Black Night is extra special!! I treasure everything about this song, it's just beautiful! The guitar notes with some pausing at about the high teens mark reminds me of going down the scales on a piano...I'm not sure even why I sense that...its just a superb & powerful song at a slower pace, classic and will stand the test of time!
2 more votes at my house, Angela..It's my roomie's favorite one to jam with..he loves the progressions! Cathy
I've always had a feeling that this was the main track on the album. The solo is 'on the money' and the song as a whole is overflowing with emotion. Sloe Gin is a great song but this one does it for me.

I don't think I've ever quoted myself before, but my first post hasn't changed. I STILL can't pick out a favorite.
For a moment there I thought you guys were talking about Deep Purple's classic....my fave by DP!!
