Walking Blues Open G.. Mumbling Word... at the time it was recorded at home(in Georgetown aka DC) it could be any tuning I could keep the 12 string dobro in. It was in the days before I could afford a a guitar tech. Im a horrible guitar tuner as a little known fact. I just have no ear for it. Without a Petersen Im lost. Even with that its hard with that guitar .. I recall it was open D ish? Maybe..? After reading the coments about me on You Tube( a mistake ) I have to be acurate. Its funny how many people nail you to the cross for doing something they cant do. Its discouraging to say the least. Yes Im influenced by Eric Johnson. Ive told him this..Its not a secret. I guess its all in the game of wack a mole that is played out here. I am how I am. no more no less. Its easy to type not so easy to play I recon. Hope this is of some help.

Joe-
I hope i end up being as great of a person as you are. This is the second time that you responded to my questions in under half an hour. I dont think that there is anyone out there that is cooler than you are! You really are a great role model. I hope i can make music my life one day. And i totally would be unashamed to say that you were my biggest influence! Now to find a 12 string dobro...
Thanks (again!)

My advice is don't read comments. Most people don't know what the heck they're talking about anyway. They'd rather cut you down to make themselves feel important. No sin in not being perfect. A diamond's flaws make it that much more beautiful.

I can't imagine what it is like in this business. You've got to have some pretty thick skin.

Hey Joe,
Life's too short. Just remember who luvs ya'

Hey Joe:
You are a young guy so why wouldn't you be influenced by others who came before you? When I saw you for the first time the other night live I could not help to hear influences from "Cliffs od Dover" but how often do you hear a song and say that sounds like ____? I love music and wish I had 1% of your talent. You hit the nail on the head.
We all know the adage "Opinions are like_____, everybody has one." For what mines worth you have created a big fan. I am one to bring others to shows who might not know your name to expose them to talented musicians. It builds from there. My opinion is that you are just hitting stride and that you are going to become a much more recognized household name in the years to come. Keep doing what you are doing with todays schools. They need to be exposed to the blues masters and those who are soon to be. I know you do it for the love of the music but those kids are your future as well. I hope the children of my town are lucky enough to have you show up someday. Good luck to you and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Its funny how many people nail you to the cross for doing something they cant do.
"jeal·ous·y
n. pl. jeal·ous·ies
jealousy - a feeling of jealous envy (especially of a rival)
green-eyed monster
enviousness, envy - a feeling of grudging admiration and desire to have something that is possessed by another."
Sadly, it can bring out the ugliness in some folks.

No doubt about it, dazee. I think jealousy says a lot more about the person expressing it and their own sense of inadequacy than it does about the target of their comments. It's a lot easier for a loser to say "I hate so and so because..." than "man I really suck compared to him."
a lot of times, If I'm jamming to a cd - I'll tune to the cd. Many cd's dont come off as 440 when you know its standard tuning. Some are a little sharper, and some a little flat. Just a tiny bit.

wait a second- you cant use a version of the word in its definition!
When I attempt to play Joe's slide songs I usually tune my resonator to open E, which seems to work for Burning Hell and Mumbling word. For The river I put a capo at the 1st fret so it's in open F, which I've read/heard somewhere that Joe was using this for that song (don't know if it's true?). Open D will work as well I guess cause it's same as open E but a whole tone lower (right?). It's cool to use these open tunings for slide since you can easily bar powerchords with the slide
So that explains why I can't get the Mumbling Word sound right, it's a twelve string

I've heard Joe say the river is in Open F, plus thats the only way to play most of that song with all the open strings in it

The Man never ceases to amaze me! Humble and yet such a tremendous talent developed mostly by hard, hard work. Joe, I'm starting to wonder if your real or if I'm just living in this little fantasy world called Joe Bonamassa? Although it's a great place to be with people like Patty, Jane, Fret, Shred, J Dawg, Jon, Maria, Rhonda, Eva, Annelies, Jacque, Ken, Jeff, Susan, Michael, joebeacon, Bill, Melissa, Dean, Donna, Jim M. (The Terminator), Phil (Mr. Serious), Lee, Renee, misterlee; Nancy, Stu, Zhurh, Rev and the many, many more that I've chatted with on the Forum itself! Thanks Joe for all of the Fabulous times I've had and will have in the future!!

Without a doubt, one of the most honest things I've ever heard a guitar player say
