Topic: Diezel Amplification

Has anyone here tried one of these amps?  I keep hearing nothing but good things about them, but haven't gotten the opportunity to play one yet.  I've been really interested in the VH4(S) as of late.

I hear they are tonally very versatile.  If only they weren't so expensive....

Hey Montius!

I've tried the Diezel Einstein head with the matching cab at the guitar shop here, and I must say, it IS a great sounding amp, but a bit fizzy for my taste, and certainly not warranting the $3000+ pricetag.  The drive channel sounds too modern for me, altho I bet, as with any other amp, with some time and tweaking, I'm sure you can dial in a tone that suits your ears.  I believe Billy Corgan uses Diezel, as does Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day.  I saw Rivers Cuomo's rig a few years back at a Weezer show and he was using Diezels, with the logo modified to "Weezer" with the same font.
My opinion is that it has more of that modern rock vibe to it.  That's my take on it, hope it helps! big_smile

Hello!

Yeah, like I said, I was looking at the VH4, as I heard it can do just about anything.  With 4 independent channels it should be able to cover just about everything!  Basically I want a very versatile amp as I try to play as many different styles as I can.  Unfortunately there really aren't any music shop in the Wichita, KS area that carries them in store that i know of.

Re: Diezel Amplification

We had a guy bring his Diezel head in to the store to try out a Boogie cab with it. It was rated at 180 watts!!!!  How are ya supposed to crank that thing up to the point where it's starts to cook and sing???? My ears are still bleeding five days later.

I haven't got a clue which model it was. It could be he was mistaken and I didn't feel like trying to prove the kid wrong. Mind you, I asked him where he sets the master volume when he's gigging and he said he can't turn it up past #1 because it's too loud. smile

What's the point if you can't turn it past 1?!  You're not pushing the tubes enough to get a really good sound!

That's exactly what I thought too.
