Topic: Garde Theatre = memorable night

One would have to be there tonight to realize how special it was.  I forgot one large diff between tonight and the prior week - tonight was the last gig of the Joe/ Sam tour. The prior set lists were out the window. Crosby was an excellent table setter. He had an awesome elec violin player! Sam and his band were an eye openner for me - never heard of him before this arrangement with Joe.  All blues fans need to atleast listen to San Bush.

Joe set the blues tone for the night from his first note. Joe cut his set show short to play 4 songs with Sam and his band. For the last 45 min of the night you knew you were listening to something you would most likely never here again.  Dueling solos of drummers, bassists and guitarists - almost too much to process. Bravo to both bands for playing together like they they were one. My fav moment - Joe going from Slo Gin to Woke up Dreamim (acoustic)  - that is when the Newgrass crowd were officially Bonamanics! Unforgetable evening - I just wish I could have found out where they were all going to drink afterwards...
I'll be there at Lupo's Tues when Joe gets back to his normal routine.

Re: Garde Theatre = memorable night

Sorry... it was late last night when I posted - I kept making spelling errors and decided to TRY to go to bed...I am at work now but will write a more detailed review this eve. Yes - all nine members of both bands jammed for the last four songs. All on stage were very respectful all each other by giving equal time. More to follow...

Rhoovis:

It was a pleasure to meet you last night.

You are correct in how special the last 4 songs were. I'm a newbie but knew that this was indeed something that would not be repeated anytime soon. I'll see you next time he's in town.

Re: Garde Theatre = memorable night

What a great review, Phoenix! To see Joe jam with any one is still on my life list! You all got a special treat for sure! Did someone tape?     Cathy

Re: Garde Theatre = memorable night

Thanks Phoenix for posting the on line review - I just finished reading the hardcopy review in The Day - was wondering if anyone posted it. I know the writer of the article - atleast enough to know that he is a very avid Joe fan - can you tell?  When he responded to me on his thoughts about the New London show - the writer      ( Rick) mentioned that he was from Texas and saw Stevie Ray dozens of times in bars, arenas, etc and feels Joe is the best since SRV. No argument here!  I am pissed that he saw SRV that many times and I only saw him once. Hopefully Joe will feel like playing with others like Sam in the future so his fans can see other unique nights like Sun.
