Topic: What am I in for Sunday night?

I'm traveling from NH to CT on Sunday to see Joe for the first time. I'm excited to see him at this venue along with Sam Bush. I read Joe's thread in the other post and  I am almost as excited as I think he is for this show. Can anyone tell me songs that are show staples? New album is awsome. Thanks to all.

Go to Hanafins Pub before the show - across the street from the Garde. Unofficial gatering place of Bona maniacs... As far as what songs to expect - different from other tour sets due to 3 acts playing. Best to look on other areas of JB's site to get an idea  - one thing I can hope for is Mountain Time. I did read somewhere today Joe eliminated Ball Peen Hammer and If heartaches were nickels...Look for you Sunday eve.

nhpolarbear I assume you are a fellow New Hamphshireite who is turned on to Joes music. You are in for the experience of a lifetime. you can see the set lists under show reviews in this forum. I am glad to hear that the great granite state is continuing to represent. have a great time and let us know how you enjoyed losing your " Live Joe Virginity".

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

I read that too but why did he stop including them? I like BPH from the new CD.

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

Well if your name is Bill Wax then yes you did. Thanks.

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

The set for the co-bill with Sam is 75 minutes long. He might move some songs in and out of a shorter set. BPH had been an encore song then it was moved to the acoustic set in the middle of the show. He will usually cut acoustic songs in an abbreviated set. The live version of BPH is quite different than the studio version. He plays it on a twelve string with the band.

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

Thanks Jim. I'm taking a friend who has no idea what he is in for at this show. I'll post my review.

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

NHP:  The five (I believe) songs that were eliminated from the set, trimming down to what Joe jokingly referred to last night as "the Blitzkreig set" were dropped due to the time constraints of having two co-headlining acts as well as Crosby Loggins doing a short opening set.  If I remember correctly, the songs dropped were Ball Peen Hammer, If Heartaches Were Nickels, Miss You, Hate You (the latter two from the acoustic portion of the show) Django and I can't remember the last one...maybe One of These Days, which is a recent addition I have not yet had the pleasure of seeing live.  Regardless, you're in for a smokin' show...enjoy and let us know what you thought!

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

You & your guests are in for all they said nhpolarbear, plus 2 words-A treat.  Joe could probably have you all covered in trimming even another half hour at this point.  But that's Crosby's allotment, a tough one to make an impression with the others following, but from what I've heard so far, I have faith in him making a decent impression in little time.

High Water Everywhere was another one of the acoustic numbers. I hope he doesn't drop that...one of my favorites live and I was humming it for a solid week after the last show I saw!

Bill S:  High Water > Woke Up Dreaming extended version stayed. :-)   Any line on getting a recording of the Chicago HOB show you're likely referring to?

I originally heard that the Chicago show had been recorded. Later, someone said that they were mistaken...it was actually the show from the previous night at HOB's Cleveland.
I've been trying to get on Dime a Dozen to check, but haven't been able to sign up yet. I'll keep trying and let you know if the Chicago show is available.

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

I'll just echo what everyone else said.

I am not one to follow artist's around, even Pink Floyd which I've seen 3 times in various eras. I've seen Frank Marino twice 26 years apart.

But I've seen Joe Bonamassa 6 times now. If he's within a 2 hour drive I am *so* there. I swear he gets better & better every time and my wife agrees.

So prepare to see a guy that was *born* to perform. Prepare to see a true guitar legend do what he does best.

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

I guess it doesn't hurt to have front row seats when seeing Joe for the first time (I had no idea). Before I forget I want to make sure everyone on this forum knows how great Sam Bush and his band are in concert. He was the added bonus last night. When he came out with his band to play 4 songs at the close of the show with Joe and his band it was incredible. Joe and Sam  were a knockout. What a terrific way to end the show.

What can I say that has not been said before about Joe. I still can't wipe the smile off my face. I see my share of live blues throughout the year and have to say it was the best show I've attended  in a long time. Just add me to list of the converted. I'm waiting for dates next tour in hopes of seeing him closer to home (NH) although I would go to the Guarde in New London again. Great place to see a show.

Thanks to all in welcoming me to the club. PS: the friend I took couldn't stop talking about it. He's ready to go again.

Re: What am I in for Sunday night?

Nhpolarbear,

I was completely surprised when I got there and they took me to the front row.  I was sitting directly in front of Joe for the show so you must have been very close to me.  I originally thought I had third row but they ended up making the stage larger and removing the first couple of rows!!!  What is better than that?   What an unbelievable show and Sam Bush and Crosby Messina were also excellent, I am going to buy their CD's right away.  I got to shake Joes hand at the end of the concert after he threw out his pick to the audience.  I wish I could see him at Lupo's on Tuesday because Todd Wolfe is opening and should be a great show.  I talked to Todd at Bank street cafe on Friday night before he played and he was looking forward to it to.  I guess he has opened for him on a few other shows recently.  Rock on!!!  Mark
