Topic: The Gift of Joe II

Roy's original topic got me thinking (usually a dangerous thing).
I know many people stumbled across Joe via radio, or at a music store or other ways, but many of us were given "The gift of Joe" by friends, relatives or acquaintances.

My good friend Mark gave me a ticket to see Joe on December 3, 2004...2 hours before showtime. Mark now holds a very unique position amongst my friends: He gave me "The gift of Joe", a gift I'll never forget.
Who gave you "The gift of Joe"?

Mato.

I went to see Indigenous back in 2001 I think and they had this opening act. Joe something or other. It was one of those get there early to get a good seat, then go hit the bar for some cold ones while the opening act played their set. Well needless to say I didn't get any cold ones. The opening act had me captivated from the first note.  Can't remember what he played that night, just know that I bought the ANDY disc and the rest is history.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: The Gift of Joe II

No one gave me the" gift",I stumbled upon Joe myself. However,It is better to give than receive.Giving the gift of Joe[unlike christmas]can be a year round thing. So tis the seasons.

Re: The Gift of Joe II

For me, BB King gave me the gift of Joe. I went to see BB King for his 80th B-day tour. It was one of those things that I had on my list to do before I die, and BB wasn't getting any younger! I went to see BB play at Laumier Park in St. Louis, MO and Kenny Wayne Shepherd was opening for BB. I had been on the KWS forum and heard Joe's name mentioned, I think from Deezer. I figured that I would see BB, and KWS was a bonus and hey, I would get to hear that Joe guy mentioned on the KWS forum. Well, I was blown away. I think Joe only played 3 songs that night and that was all it took. The rest is history.

For me it was Nic (NPB_EST.1979) actually.  I had heard the name tossed around, and he sent me some songs of his.  And I was like "Dang this is good stuff." Shortly after I saw him at the BB King Blues fest, and I was a very strong fan.
