Topic: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Many of you know him as the gitbox player for Creed but his new band..Alter Bridge is great

Anyway in the new Guitar World Mark mentions JB

"Joe Bonamassa is a current favorite.  He absolutely floors me, Tremonti marvels.  His tone and phrasing are impeccable.  Theres a new song on our album called Brand New Start where Im definitely copping his vibe."
etc....

Nice of a prime time rock player to mention JB

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Further proof that Joe is a guitar player's guitar player. Thanks for sharing this...Cathy

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Thats great to hear!  Mark Tremonti has always been one of those guys I respected- even though I really don't listen to him much- I have been getting into Alter Bridge a bit now and theres some good stuff there.

Anyways- I was just watching a video of Mark Tremonti playing a solo- check out from about 1:15 to 1:22 or so... sound like someone familiar?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=U_tfOf7Wqaw& … re=related

maybe a little guitar solo off ANDY Live?

Good to hear some great guitarists being influenced by Joe!

I'd take it one further and say he's even a guitar worker for the guitar player's guitar player...He's also becoming a convenient "draw" into other's interviews commentary

Rock On & Keep the Faith & Vote Joe Bonamassa in Guitar Player Readers Poll before December 31 for now, until 2012...

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

he is a guitar players guitar player if you play guitar.  Or he is a guitar players player if you want to learn how to play guitar

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Honestly..Mark is a killer player..  I am very honored...He is also a friend.   Im a big fan as well

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

The thing about Mark Tremonti is that in every interview I've ever read about him, he is always learning something new--always!  He is constantly pushing himself and growing as a musician--even studying other styles of guitar.  He's never okay to just settle and he'll definately be around for years to come.  Watch out for him, 'cause he's only going to get better.

Oh, and he is my husband's favorite guitarist, so I'll have to rub that in, "Your favorite guitarist looks up to my favorite guitarist!" wink  Seriously though, I love Tremonti.

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Tremonti is great. Big PRS fan as well. I saw Creed in concert for free back in 1998, decent show.
Tremonti has his own tone, which I respect.

The key to liking Creed and Tremonti's new band: quit listening to the radio. They got a bad rap there for a while. When I get sick of bands, it's because of over-saturation. I never stopped liking Tremonti, because I could control how often I listened to him - don't spoil it for yourself!

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

The thing I like about Mark is he knew he was limited in a certain area (leads).  So he got help an worked his a$$ off to get better.  He put in a solid 10 months of shredding 12-14 hrs a day.  I think his riffs are leads in themselves but he worked at it and is now doing a great job.
Good for him!

Hey Fret,

I say DEFINITELY rub it in! I remember one little friend (Evan) of my son was talking about this "great" guitarist one day. He said his name was "Bucket Head" and I almost cracked up, but didn't want to discourage him. Ben went on and on about Joe, so when we got home we went to Youtube and let him show us "Bucket Head" (the guy actually wears a bucket upside down on his head). After, I said let me show you Joe Bonamassa. I brought up "Woke Up Dreaming" the one Michael Lynch shot in Hanover along with a couple otherYoutube clips. The result, Evan doesn't talk much about Bucket Head anymore!

Roy

Oh yes, Buckethead . . . with the KFC bucket on his head.  He gets my vote for top ten scariest/freakiest guitarists of all time . . .

By the way Roy, have fun at the game Sunday!  It's snowing here.

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Ok, so how cool that Mark Tremonti served up props for JB like that.  Perfect, now I can send some Joe music to my friend in Iraq and tell him he comes with the Mark Tremonti seal of approval!!!!!!! smile

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Far be it from me to get in on this one...but Buckethead is one of the best of the best technical players in the whole world.

As a former LA resident when Buckethead was being created, I find him to be limitless, a lot like Joe.

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Now that is cool! I love Alter Bridge's stuff and was a big fan of Creed.

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Cool.  There was just an article in the local paper yesterday about Alter Bridge, 'cause they'll be in town this Tuesday.  I was undecided about going, but this topic may be the swingvote.

Yeah Bucketheads a pretty odd guy- Doesn't he talk through a chicken puppet or something like that?

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

I love Mark Tremonti.  I saw him in concert a few times with Creed and up until Joe - was the best live show I had ever seen.  Memories - St. Paul, I'm standing in the middle of the floor section.  The lights dim unexpectedly and there is a huge ball of fire on the stage that actually heats my face (imagine the wizard of Oz's head), then the music starts.  It was so loud my jeans vibrated.  Now that happens often at live shows when I'm up front - but this was dramatic vibrating!  It would have been more dramatic if it weren't for the then-boyfriend wrapped around my leg having a panic attack.  But that's another story for another board... LOL

In summary, love Mark, love the fact that Mark loves Joe...

By the way, for those of you who like men - Mark is hot (I can say that as my husband doesn't frequent this board)!!

OK, he can play. But does he need an upside down KFC bucket on his head to get noticed? I have never seen Joe with anything funny on his head. The most he's ever had on recently are ball caps. Actually, I'm kind of partial to this one myself: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8384830@N0 … 075415424/

Anyway, it's great that players as good as Mark Tremonti think Joe is The Man because he is!!

Roy

That has absolutely nothing to do with how good a guitar player he is.
