Devon Allman's Honey tribe Make UK Debut

Vocalist/guitarist Devon Allman continues to expand the cross generational Allman Brothers dynasty when he brings his band Honeytribe to the London for three debut UK gigs as part of a European tour.

The son of Allman Brothers mainstay and guitarist Gregg Allman, Devon has stepped out on his own with a cracking band, and five years of hard gigging spanning over 250 shows a year.

Promoting the well received 'Torch' album on Provogue Records, which includes a guest appearance by Joe Bonamassa, Honeytribe mix up rock/blues, southern roots rock and traces of Santana, with Devon's vocals being a revelation.
The dates are as follows.

Thur 6th Dec The Boom Boom Club/Sutton Utd FC, The Borough Sports Ground, Sutton Surrey SM1
Fri 7th Dec The Real Music Club/New Bull & Butcher, London N20
Sat 8th Dec Zoom @ The Moon SE24/Half Moon, Herne Hill, London SE24

Cool...though last time I checked I'm pretty sure Gregg Allman was a keyboard player, not a guitarist.  I could be wrong though.  I bought the "Torch" CD and I like it, especially the track Joe's on :-)

I saw the tribe here in St. Louis at the Big Muddy Blues Festival and was impressed. I bought the CD at the festival and Devon signed it. Of course I was wearing my JB tshirt and Devon commented that Joe played on the CD and that he just thought the world of him. I was not aware that Devon's home base is here in St. Louis and am looking forward to seeing him again locally after the Europen tour.

I thought the same thing until I saw Greg on a TV show playing a flat-top while singing. I still think keyboard is his primary gig.

I was better, but I got over it...........

Gregg has played guitar since way, way, way back, back before Duane... You will hear him play guitar sometimes usually on Sweet Melissa with the ABB...

Oh yeah, this is definitely one of those rare bands who you go see the first time and your jaw just drops open. They are rock-n-roll at it's heart and soul. Please don't miss them if they come near you.

Saw 3 youtube clips someone shot at an early spot in a festival. First song, not many people around. 2nd song, filling up considerably, 3rd song, crowd of wildly dancing cheering people had gathered. They are lovin' them in Europe right now!!

And yep, Gregg plays guitar on 2 to 3 songs per ABB show. I'm sure he does some more in his Gregg & Friends shows, we have never gotten to go to one of those before.

Just helping to spread the word about going to see GOOD bands and GOOD live music as often as possible!!!

For those of you who don't know it, Gregg taught Duane guitar when they were young.Gregg didn't take up the Hammond B till later.

Color me embarassed....guess there are a few gaps in my generally encyclopaedic knowledge of music trivia.  Very cool!
