Hey Road, thanks. I actually got chills seeing that commercial!
Thank you sally ... I was fortunate to see him play at the Iridium in NYC during his Monday Night residency.
I can remember after the show meeting and chatting with he and his son with a small group who stayed after to meet him and get an article signed (was around midnight.) He chatted with the few of us that lingered after for 10 mins or so.
Somehow the conversation veered towards how his son was archiving some of his past works that were captured on film ... and he asked me directly (why me in the group I thought?) ... "do you know what a "telecine machine" is?"... He was truly surprised that I knew! (Telecine is the process of transferring motion picture film into video.) Although a business major ... I had taken a couple TV Production courses in college as an elective because my secret dream was to work in live TV ... or live music. I was on Cloud 9 that I surprised him by answering correctly ... can still remember his expression / smile and eyes on me.
He signed a Les Paul I brought with me with not "Les Paul" as he usually did ... but with his birth name ... Lester William Polsfuss ... one of the handful of days in my life I hold onto clearly in my memory.
