Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Braves played a wild one in Atlanta yesterday vs the Marlins, down 5 runs in the 9th they scored 6 to win it. Now maybe that will break our home game curse once and for all. Braves have been very good on the road, off to Philly tonight

My Giants are cold, hot, cold, hot, hell I don't know if they even know what they are!.....2 games back of the Dbacks, so who knows.....My AL club the Yankees are rolling, homers galore.....some dude on the Cardinals hit 105!....I still think my boy Nolan Ryan threw harder than anyone ever, if only they had stat cast back then....the greatest game ever played ( in my biased thinking)

A glimmer of life. 2 games over .500 for May.
It’s a start.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

took 3 of 4 from the Nats in Atlanta thanks to some very decent pitching, good to win a few at home now after a troubling start .......................... and it's off to visit your Padres tonight I assume for a 3 game series. I wish we had Ocuna back but his knee injury could have been so much worse, they will reevaluate him after 10 days on the DL. We have played well on the road at times this year, but I won't be able to stay up for much of these games out west

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

depressing start to the day as I get up to watch MLB Quick Pitch and see that Julio didn't have his best stuff at SD last night. Your Padres jumped on him early and often ........... oh well, we'll try again tonight

The team is starting to come together. A few key players came off the d/l. They roughed up your pitching staff pretty well, and Richards is a consistent starter. There’s even a glimmer of hope on the horizon since the NLW(orst) is tanking across the board. Only 6 games back. I’ll be watching again tonight.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

You got the bullpen platoon start today Tres. Our #4 starter went on the dl so with no choice Andy Green sent in his string of 2 inning guys and the boys were up to the task. A well pitched game on both sides with our closer Hand (great name!) whiffing 5 in the last 2 innings with his nasty slider. He reminds me of Hoffman-usually nails. Best homestand of the season so far, winning each series and getting the Bravos 2/3 was icing! Good luck for your team on the rest of the road trip. They’re good!
Rick
Ps, did you see the beer cup catch of the foul by that gal yesterday? It was a feature replay all over. I’m in love. Cooly snags it on the fly in her lap without spilling the beer, stands and salutes the crowd with the raised cup, and takes a chug-a-lug with the ball in the cup! My kind of lady and a good looker to boot. Classic.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I got to see the last 3 innings of it, Hand does have a great slider that could almost be called a slurve. I was a little upset with some of the plate umps calls there at the end, but fact is he was missing calls for both teams. The 3rd strike to Dansby Swannson was high and outside, would have given us first and 2nd with no outs ............ shoulda, coulda, woulda ......... hehe, is what it is
I did see the cup catch, amazing but I am not drinking that beer, just get a new one honey

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

OK Rick, we have the series rematch this time at Suntrust starting Thursday and going through Sunday, play four y'all. We get the Mets at home for two tomorrow and Wed, looking forward to not having that late west coast start time. We didn't do you any favors at the Doyers, lost 2 of 3 including our best pitcher Newcomb who lost yesterday

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

The platoon of castoffs notched another W vs the Redbirds and it looks like they will be getting another start.
Seeya on Thursday, they’re not fooling me though. AAA level for the most part.
Rick.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Sanchez made a great start last night and the Bravos managed just enough runs, but I like the look of this Padres team ........ on to game 2 tonight, McCarthy vs Richard on the mound. Richard killed us last time at SD, he is tough despite the mediocre ERA

The game turned on that “hit batsman call”. Even the batter admitted he wasn’t hit. We’ll get ya tonight. They’re playing above their talent level, that’s for sure.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Nice night by Galvis. 5 for 5 and on fire! Richards didn’t get much support early while they booted the ball around, and no favors from Joe West’s crew either, but hung tough long enough for his mates to make up for it with some timely hitting.  Our excellent BP closed it out.
Rubber match coming so good luck.
Play ball!
Rick
Edit, why your guys are 1st and mine are last. Good games other than the expanded zones and weird calls.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Well, a few glimmers among the ashes. Our rookie starter Lauer is settling in. He came within an out of a complete game shutout of the Dodgers last night. We have two very legit closers on the BP staff and the kids down in the minors are all getting a look.
We’ll gettem next year.
