Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

my Braves are also off to a hot start taking both series from Philly and the Nats. We just beat the Nats in the rubber match versus Scherzer today 7 - 1, and have now scored 48 runs in 6 games ......... I can do that math in my head  smile)

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Just when you think you’ve seen it all...

Bottom of the 11th, 0-0 in a pitchers duel against the Astros. Man on 2nd, 2 down. High popup in the infield and 4 players converge in front of home, but no one calls for it. It drops and hits the ground while they all look at each other as the streaking guy on 2nd crosses for the walk-off.

Sigh, my Padres... mired in the cellar again.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I feel your pain Rick, but it's still early. Bravos took another series over the weekend, at COL no less, but lost to Scherzer and the Nats yesterday ........... yeah it's early, Braves are exceeding my expectations

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Well...
This team of mostly rookies is starting to be fun to watch. .500 on the road trip, and a bench-clearing brawl when the Rockies had pegged our guys enough and it was time to make a statement so we pegged them back. They just beat up the Gigantes and are now getting shelled by the Dodgers as usual.
Remember this name: Christian Villanueva. The kid’s on fire! 6 taters including 3 in one game so far.
The owner said he was shooting for the playoffs next year and has spent some big $ for core vet talent. We’ll see. The starting pitching needs work.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

and remember this name, Ronald Acuna Jr for Atlanta came up from AAA ball last night, went 1 for 4 but hit two to the warning track.................. In a day game at Cincy today he went yard

Well he's here and we are digging on it ........... 3 for 3 today with a home run, 2 singles, 2 RBIs and a stolen base

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Braves have 5 guys hitting over .300 but none over .350 like Christian is doing, that is a very hot start and I will be watching him as well

He popped#8 last night. He’s death on LH pitching and fun to watch. We’ll see how pitching adjusts across the league. Franchy Cordero is another rookie looking good on the team. The rookie pitchers coming up in a parade from the minors is another thing. They’re getting lit-up.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I see that Christian hit his 9th last night, and a good win over the Giants. We brought up another guy from AAA, this time a pitcher and he was great last night at the Mets. Braves torched Noah early, but only 3 runs to show for all of the hits. Acuna went 2 for 5, now hitting .417 but not nearly enough at bats to qualify for anything

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Acuna just hit another one and the wizard of OZ just hit one, Teheran is pitching a no-no in the 8th and we will get the sweep at Citi Field ........... so much for the Mets being dominant, not this series and Todd Frazier can go suck an egg

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Christian Villanueva  made NL Rookie of the Month. Today he plays vs Dodgers in his home town, Guadalajara, in front of family and friends. What a thrill for him.
Nice to see you have a competitive team. We’re already in the don’t lose 100 mode.

He went o-fer in Mexico in front of his home fans and committed an error. I think the pressure got to him.. but 2 out of 3 against the Dodgers is great.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Braves had a pretty good series winning 3 out of 4 at the Marlins, they have a very good road record and now just need to get their act together when at home

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

a makeup rain game at the Cubbies yesterday, and it got hairy in the ninth. Minter finally got them out, but it wasn't pretty. Joey Bats came through with his 2nd HR on the year, a 3 run dinger that won the game. Cubbies in ATL tonight, Braves are 8 - 7 at home, time to step it up and continue with the East Div lead
