Topic: New Joe Satriani What Happens Next

I have always been a fan but have to admit I kind of fell off the bandwagon for a while.I read really  good reviews  so checked it out and I really like this one!!
Also he signed up Glen Hughes to play bass on this all instrumental album so no haters on the Glen vocals for this.
As much as I like guitar sometimes instrumental albums can get boring. But I wasn’t bored  in the least with this one.

Re: New Joe Satriani What Happens Next

Totally agree about this latest album of Joe S's. There's enough variety to keep it interesting and boy can he riff it out on Energy and Headrush.

What I've always liked about Joe S is that he doesn't descend into "extended solos" for tracks but actually does songs and Cherry Blossoms is a gem. True, he does often find a sound that gets on your nerves but this time he's turned it into a monster of a track, Catbot.

Having Glenn Hughes and Chad Smith as the backline, for me, gives the album a denser feel than previous releases, very much a group dynamic that would carry well on stage.  I've seen some reviews asking that they do another album and let Glenn sing, a sort of Chickenfoot Mk II - sorry, not on my watch.
