Topic: 2018 Red Rocks

Denver PBS is selling packages. Sunday August 5 for a Country Legends Tribute. Johhny Cash, Willie Nelson, surely Buck Owens since he’s added an influenced tune or two in Bakersfield I’ve heard. Bluesrock Country? Knocking down the walls.
Hmmm. I dunno... ya move to Nashville, hang with those boys and look what happens. lol He’s added some vintage lap steels to the collection lately.
Go gettem folks.

Re: 2018 Red Rocks

I started a small facebook group for Red Rocks for those that do that. Request an entry to this closed group and I'll let you in. Members use it to talk, coordinate meetups and preparties, it’s 100% fans with no spam, just all Joe. The parties have been memorable with 20-30 fans having a good time at a local pizza hangout on the outdoor deck the day before, then a tailgater before the show in the parking lot.
Here’s the link, we’ll be there if I can get ADA seats again. (The better half is mobility challenged at altitude)
Hope to see a gang again.

Re: 2018 Red Rocks

Due to scalping issues, AXS has changed the rules for ADA tickets in the first row and also in the front 4 rows, making them absolutely non-transferrable by the purchaser who must be present in the venue with all those he paid for with photo id..This applies to us, which makes me hopeful we can get a seat. http://redrocksonline.com/news/detail/r … ng-process

Re: 2018 Red Rocks

Oh rats! a country and western tribute?  I know, it's part of the blues legacy, but last year's Red Rocks concert, with Joe playing his own music was the concert of a lifetime.  Not a big fan of country.  Not at all.  Looks like this is the first time I'll be taking a pass on Joe at Red Rocks.  I'm crushed.

Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson aren't your usual country stuff.  Johnny's early rockabilly stuff was amazing, and Willie has always been a pretty blue country singer.  With a Joe twist on things I think you may be surprised. I am hoping this plays someplace close enough that I can get to see it.  Years ago Joe did an acoustic set opening for Willie (I had to spell his name three times for the lady sitting next to me) and it was wonderful.  Also saw Johnny many years ago and loved it.  Country isn't all twang.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Re: 2018 Red Rocks

True, and I loved Cash forever.  Willie, I used to scoff at but over the years I've come to really appreciate and I'd go see him live if I had the chance.  But I love Joe's blues and I go to see the blues not country. Living in Colorado there are no Bonamassa shows except Red Rocks and I was hoping Joe was done with the special tributes there.  I'll be at other Red Rocks shows this year but not for Bonamassa doing yet another tribute.  Enjoy, I'm sure it will be fine, just really not worth the drive and the money to me.
