Topic: Irony at HOB's Chicago

I occasionally see things that boggle the mind.
Friday night, HOB's Chicago, Joe is in the middle of an absolutely SMOKING set.
I was at the right end of the first row of seats and happened to look down towards the center of the row. There is a guy in the first row near center stage, and I swear to God he's sleeping.
The irony?: Joe was playing "Woke Up Dreaming" at the time.

In case you're wondering, he did not just have his eyes closed enjoying the music. I looked multiple times throughout the acoustic set...not a smile, a twitch or a flicker of life.

He must of been with one of those women that follow Joe around. I bet he was with one of those "the one who must be obeyed"! lol  smile  Yes dear, I will go to the show with you, drop you off at the door and then park the car......yes, I will also go get the car when the show is over......... smile

Hey Bill,
Just got back home and read your post. I didn't notice it, but Renee can confirm what you're saying. He was right in the middle of the first row as you said. He seemed to be there with the guy sitting next to him. Unbelievable!!!

I saw the same thing recently at Joes show in Modesto, Ca.....Unfortunately it was a close relative of mine!.....Hey, my forum e-mail buddys dont say a word lol...only they know the identity!
If your going to see the greatest musician alive, and you got front row seats, get some rest before the show, and moderate your beverages. I cant tell you how bad my relative feels about what happened, but some of us are not youngsters anymore, hard lesson!!

A very sad note to the joking about this poor fellow. I'm sure most of you didn't notice this, but at the end of the show the "sleeping" guy still hadn't moved. Turned out he had some sort of massive stroke and was unconscious. I called 911 from our cell phone and paramedics arrived quickly. I stayed with this man until they arrived. He still was breathing when they took him from the HOB, but tragically passed away en route to the hospital. No further attempts were made to revive him at the hospital because of the major damage to his brain caused by the stroke. Funeral arrangements are pending. You just never know............................................................................................

when Joe's Unbelievable guitar skills on "Woke Up Dreaming" might cause someone's brain to internally explode causing a stroke or even death! Or for that matter, when the BluesMan might be pulling your leg!!!! lol lol lol lol

I'll admit it, you had me for a bit. But did you also know that Joe's music had the stunning side effect of causing euphoria and bouts of extreme fanaticism. But are they really so bad???

As for the sleeper, can we get that written down as a law or a commandment or something?
Thou shalt not sleep through a Bonamassa concert.
Punishment: The street team will tie you down and play every Bonamassa CD until you join. It should only take about one go through. =P

Shred,
I guess I didn't think about it until now, but that guy could have slept in the back just as easily and gave his ticket to a real fan! What a waste of front row seats.
