Topic: My Jimi Hendrix project

I always love hearing Joe play some Jimi stuff. Out of pure passion I decided to found a cover project where I play guitar and sing. Believe me, it's damn hard to synchronize guitar and vocals...Jimi was incredibly independent in his playing and singing at the same time.

We've recorded some stuff at the 2nd rehearsal and I'm positive so far.

Have a listen and let me know if you like it:

Thanks so much my friends!

Well. It is nice. Like the playing. Singing needs improving. "Purple Haze" cover - like.

But well... you are sooo confident to post this to BONAFORUM.

Thanks. The singing and playing at the same time is a little demanding to be honest, I mean Jimi wasn't about plain chord playing ;-) But I'm working on it and I'm sure it's gonna turn out good in the end. The record was from the 2nd rehearsal...so still plenty of time.

I'm posting this here not out of being overly confident, but because of knowing that people here have a certain level of good taste and understanding of handmade music :-)

Re: My Jimi Hendrix project

It is of interest to note that Jimi Hendrix did not want to sing. He knew his voice was not on par with a 'singer's' voice but he was encouraged to do so because he had a syncopated style of 'singing' the words that matched his eclectic sound. He probably had trouble singing and playing as well.... tongue

"While his vocals obviously aren't as virtuosic as his guitar playing, they're more than capable – but Hendrix was intensely self-conscious about them. "We had a constant row in the studio," Chandler remembers, about "where his voice should be in the mix. He always wanted to have his voice buried and I always wanted to bring it forward. He was saying, 'I've got a terrible voice, I've got a terrible voice.' I'd say, 'You may have a terrible voice, but you've got great rhythm in your voice.'
