Re: Joe's Interviews

... I hope that he (Joe) at least enjoyed the red merlot wine I brought him during one of my very rare meet and greets though.
he gives his talent (and nerdity) to us freely, Gold Fish cheese snacks and red wine, how could I go wrong?

this interview is what we've come to expect of Joe, just comes across as an honest person

I am interviewing Joe tomorrow and will select two questions from the board tomorrow morning at 7 am my time (Eastern Daylight) I will credit with your board nickname, lets have any burning ones....

Re: Joe's Interviews

With a collection of something like 8+ historical Les Paul's (aka 58-60) starting with Magellan the first of many.
(not counting all the historic Fender's)

You have current favorites that you play in concert right now,
Will we see some of those "not so favorite " LP's back on the road or are they destined to be Bonaseium closet queens?

Also 2nd question
Since you have a "fine tuned guitar ear"

Can you describe what differences in sound you hear on your LP's ?
Magellan to Skinner to Batman to Spot to??
... you get the idea

Hey teamx123, welcome aboard & thanks for asking for our input!

My questions for Joe:

Did you ever play guitar at any school functions like talent shows, dances, special events?  How was the audience reception?  Did your peers appreciate your talent?  Did adults in attendance appreciate your talent (parents/teachers/staff)?

Knowing a little bit about your history & your musical family, I'm guessing you started seeing live music at a young age.  (Heck, you were professionally playing live music at a young age!)  So instead of first concert you attended, I'd like to know, what was the first concert that you chose to attend that you were really excited to go to?  Did you ever camp out for tickets?  For who?  Road trips?  (Or did your playing gigs from such a young age preclude you from seeing shows outside of the ones you were involved in?)

Favorite or most memorable concert(s) that you have attended?  Why?

Favorite venue(s) to play?  Why?

Favorite venue(s) to attend concert?  Why?

Song(s) or album(s) that absolutely floored you on the first listen?

What are some songs/albums/artists that had to grow on you, but now you really enjoy? (They didn't grab you at first listen, or you did not like the music at all at first, but with more exposure, you developed an appreciation, perhaps even great fondness, of the music.)

Any plans for a U.S. tour with Beth Hart?  (This is both a question and a request!)

Proudest accomplishment of your life (so far)?

M&M's--Plain or Peanut?

Would you be willing to sell me your tickets to the KISS Indoor Football Team (given to you by Cadillac Zack)?  They are my favorite sports team.  I'm a diehard fan.  (By the way, are they soccer Football or American Football?)

Thanks teamx123!  Have fun interviewing Mr. Bonamassa!

Rufus

So much music, so little time!

Re: Joe's Interviews

Interview in Sunday 12/4/16 Lexington Herald Leader with Walter Tunis long time music reporter here in Lexington. It is because of Walter's short two line review of SILT in 2002 we discovered Joe and a topic here about his review of the Lexington Opera House show in 2010 that I found the forum. What I like most about the article is he knows Joe, he mentions all of the side projects accurately and nice detail about Joe's catalog. Great read!

Joe Bonamassa: the World Guitar Day interview.

"  - Did you remember feeling an immediate attraction to the guitar?

   - "Truth be told, I felt like it was an extension of my personality. It still is, to be honest with you. I use it to   basically speak without having to speak to people. The other thing is, it can also be used as a weapon. It can make people notice you, whether they want to or not. The dynamics of the guitar can be swung in such radically different ways, sometimes within the same song. That’s what’s always attracted me."
