I was at the concert on Thursday.
As usual Joe started bang on time and gave us two hours and twenty minutes of music.
The set list was the same as Usher Hall.
Personally I thought there were some sound issues to start with but by the time " No good place for the lonely " fired up it was close to perfect.
Keyboards and Backing singers were right of stage with horns on the left, drums central with Joe centre/left and Michael centre/right.
"Hummingbird" was a fitting finale to the evening and Anton managed to fit in a drum solo during "Black Winter".
I'm not an expert on all of Joe's guitars but he started with a Stratocaster, moving onto a few Les Paul's and Flying V's, think there was also a Telecaster and couple of others I didn't recognise.
Joe said he would be returning to the RAH in 2019 for three nights to celebrate his tenth anniversary at this venue.
No special guests but maybe on Friday?
Thanks Joe and all the best for tonight.
Lester..

Half my report went missing!
The first night he played a '58 Explorer, the new Gibson Customshop Snakebite replica, a V that resembles Amos, '66 Strat ( very worn), '67 Tele with a Bigsby, a Firebird, Hardtail Strat (believe it's the '55) and other Gibsons and another Tele.
The second night the Snakebite replica was replaced with a Goldtop

If it's the strat I'm thinking of, used on This Train, it's not Rorys, though I can certainly see the resemblance. But it has a large headstock.

yeah, very similar wear, but, then,I suppose they ALL wear away in same places!
And what about the merch-2 tees! Apart from EVERY cd/DVD combo I suspect we all got- no sweats/mugs/caps/picktins,nothing! Considering the amount of stuff Joe puts his name to on the site store,a poor showing for me.Jus' sayin'.

As I recall from previous tours there is normally just the CD/DVD's and T-shirts on sale.
Mugs and baseball caps would probably sell.
Think the shirts were priced at £30.

I didn't bring my computer with me to the UK this time because it is quite heavy and we were only going to be gone for a few days so I couldn't upload anything right away. We just got home last night so I have now started on editing and uploading. We had a better view of the whole stage the second night so I am starting with that show. Joe was wearing a yellow tie that night which was kind of a change from usual. The color of the tie really went well with so many of the guitars. Our seats gave us a great view of the whole band and one of the best views of Reese I've ever had. So cool to be able to see his hands on the keyboards. They really fly The setlists were the same from what we had been hearing all Spring and also quite similar to the Fall. Was hoping he would change things up a bit for the Albert Hall, like add in some cool older stuff since that venue is so special, but that was not the case. Mike Hickey joined him on a few songs the first night but unfortunately I couldn't see him from the seats we had that night. The second night when I would have had a wonderful view, Mike didn't play. Joe had cut out Pretending and Mainline Florida which had featured Mike as rhythm guitarist. The show the second night was shorter than the first, but Joe seemed to be more energized the second night. His solos were more intense. I think the whole band was more in sync the second night, just wish the show had been a bit longer. The Albert Hall is such a stunning venue and I'm so glad we finally got a chance to see Joe play there. It really is probably the coolest venue I've ever been in. It was so great meeting up with all of our friends at these shows. So many people who we have met over the past few years were there. I sometimes think we have more friends in the UK and Europe than we do here in the States. Really makes the shows extra special when you are there with friends.
