Re: Signed Guitars

I would prefer to play like Joe or Clapton.
But since I can't; I'll take their signature on a guitar.

Since I play my guitars ; the signature out of the way like the head stock is perfect
Adds inspiration to play.

Now if only I could get back on a meet n greet to get my Strat signed

Re: Signed Guitars

Well I finally went to my first meet & greet and Joe was kind enough to sign my guitar.
I ended up getting it signed on the back of the headstock.

Re: Signed Guitars

In the past, I was able to get into two different meet n greets just by writing an email to his staff and telling them I had one of Joe's signature Gibsons and would like to get them signed. I'm not sure if that's still possible, but it's worth the effort. I've had 5 different guitars signed by him and I'm waiting on a response for the Durham show or Charleston, to get another one signed (green Epi w/Bigsby). I've had him sign the majority of them on the back of the headstock, but I have one that was signed right across the body, since I only use it for display anyway. I could care less if it lowers the value, since I didn't get it signed to increase the value anyway. To each their own.

Re: Signed Guitars

I have a really good and nice Les Paul Traditional Burst (a French luthier gonna make a refin on it... I did it for a Goldtop Les Paul, now for a light burst !) and I would like Mr Bonamassa sign it.

I'm not sure if it's possible... I'm gonna see him in France, on May 2th...

Somebody can tell me if he accepts ?

Thanks !

A signature on a pick guard can usually be changed, although I have had trouble in getting a new one for mine.  There are plenty of people who do not like signed guitars and also, believe it or not, plenty who have never heard of Joe.

In the numerous decades I have been buying, selling and playing, the broad rule of thumb I encountered was that while signatures may increase the value of cheap guitars, they always decrease the value of expensive guitars.

Still, it's whatever people want to do.  Personally, give me an unsigned guitar any day.  If you have to have an autograph from your favourite artist, then ask them to sign something like a ticket stub or CD.

we agree we disagree. Example the skinners that are signed and numbered by Joe are worth more then not signed.
its all a matter of taste. Would you prefer a Clapton Strat of a Strat that clapton signed?
cheers Ron

Re: Signed Guitars

I had the pleasure of meeting Joe in New Orleans in 2015 at the Saenger Theater.  He signed my Pelham Blue Epiphone LP and my Bonamassa Gold Top LP.  He signed both on the front of the guitar.  On my Gold Top I had him personalize it to me.  For me, I like the signatures on the body on the front.  Of course, it goes in a glass case and hangs on a wall after getting signed!  I'd never play any of my signed guitars.  I respect those who do play them, and you'd want to get the signature on the back of he headstock... that's the least touched part of the guitar!  I'd post a pic or 2 but I don't know how!  Someone please help!
