Topic: Foghat Under The Influence

Their  newest release 2016.
I gave it a listen and it is a solid album.
High quality musicians and songwriting. They seem like a tight  band. And the old gent on the drums sounds like he's 25 again.
I have not followed them since their 70's output.
Here is the thing with this album. Its only the drummer who's left from the old days.So while the music is on the same genre,it doesn't really sound like Foghat to me.There is one song Hot Momma that has that old Foghat vibe.Plus the new band does a remake of Slow Ride which is a fine remake. But  not sure why they had to record it for a studio album.
My advise is to check it out. However if you go into it thinking Foghat you might not give it an open mind.I pretended like it was a new band and listening to it from that perspective cleared my mind to take it as such and I think it is a fine new classic rock or.blues rock album.
Like the lead singer too.

Hmm.  I really miss the master slide work of the late Rod Price.  Will check this out though.  Thanks for the heads-up.

First band I heard in a stadium venue. They were LOUD! I think I'll live with the memory.

You know there are some old 70's bands that have kept the brand going with basically a whole new band.Kansas for one. However the new Kansas does sound like the old Kansas. Not as good but still you can tell its Kansas.
Deep Purple did many times over.
Usually the new incarnations not as good as the bands peak times. But I guess there is a market for it.
