Topic: Van Weelden's back in the spotlight?

Joe recently posted two photos of the Van weeldens, one with a photobomb by a silver jubilee.

It's getting a lot of people including myself wondering if he is (and hoping) He will break out the old rig again on the fall tour. There was just something wonderful about that old tone.

I don't necessarily think he will but it would be a nice surprise as I missed getting to hear the old rig in person. Joe seems to like switching things up every so often so anything is possible.

I saw the same tweet.. and went yes!

he did say that the Fender Twins made him 'work' for his tone, I like the thump of the older rig for sure.
he also said he's done with the 'specialty' shows, so maybe he's planning on doing a 'retro-Joe'

Could be for BCC the tweeds would be too clean a tone for the rock. I always loved the marshalls for tone, especially the earlier tone from Rockpalast. big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

I do hope so. I've gone off him a bit recently with his Tweed amps.

I've said it before and I'm not afraid to say it again. For me, the 2009 RAH concert tone has never been bettered by Joe. It also proved you don't need vintage gear to get amazing tone.

Re: Van Weelden's back in the spotlight?

Joe posted a picture on twitter labeled "rig rundown" of a couple fender amps. I guess enough questions were asked.  Joe your still the man with whatever rig you play through.

Yeah his tone on that day was awesome. I actually have the Carol Ann amp he used that day on the video. Long story how I have it. I did buy it directly from Joe

Didn't even notice that the picture of the fender amps has jb proto-2 on it. That's interesting.
