Topic: Kansas - Props to Joe in a Rolling Stone Video interview

As stated b4 .. I try and avoid new Threads that will be "one and done" ... didn't find any about Kansas ... reason for Thread ... went on Joe's FB page and saw someone post about Rolling Stone / Kansas interview where original member / guitarist Rich Williams gives praise to Joe .. so had to dig it up ... (Kansas has a new album coming out.)

I'm not a big FBook'r ... took me 5 mins to get a link that hopefully goes right to the Video for everyone (?) ... scroll forward until u see -9:20 (minutes left) on the bottom right. (I thought the whole interview was entertaining ... and the Joe snipit was great recognition.)

(PS .. Carry On is one of those songs I always play thru when I hear it during a radio station search.)

"I was in Space for less than 2 weeks … and suddenly Jeaniene’s back … half the Band is off the gd wagon … we have comedians opening for us … and the nice kid that ran our website is now a kleptof’nmaniac.  Boy ... did you guys miss me!!"  Phil Valentine - Road Manager - Staton House Band

JBLP#251 (unaged) ... thank you Ron.

Re: Kansas - Props to Joe in a Rolling Stone Video interview

From Rich Williams in the video, "when it comes to blues, he's the guy, the new guy, the keeper of the flame," talking about Joe Bonamassa as the artist he keeps coming back to and watching on youtube of late, since he gets better and better every time he sees something new.

Good stuff, thanks for the link!  And for me, the JB clip was with -8:20 left in the bottom right, rather than -9:20.

I always loved Kansas growing up.  My wife did too.  Very unique and distinctive sound with the "rock" violin added into the mix.  We saw them live back in 2004 at a festival in NY, and they were still awesome.

I saw the "Miracles Out of Nowhere" documentary on Kansas a year or so ago on cable.  One of the more interesting musical history documentaries I've ever seen.  A good primer on how musicians are exploited by music industry executives, which is something Joe has successfully avoided his entire career.

Re: Kansas - Props to Joe in a Rolling Stone Video interview

One of my fav groups growing up, and if you saw the documentary then you know that they almost didn't make it. One song, one hit, and they finally made it. I was fortunate to see them in Atlanta at the Fox, 1988 I think, with Steve Morse on additional guitar and yes electric violin for Dust. They were brilliant to say the least. I viewed them as America's answer to Yes and to a lesser extent Jethro Tull. What really made me feel good was that Rich was one of the few that played my guitar, the Gibson L6-S in all natural maple. It doesn't surprise me that Rich has good things to say about Joe, good talent begets good taste.

As corn through a goose, so are the days of our lives

Thank you Champster ... for ur link thanks ... and for the time stamp note ... (I did back it up a minute to cover the reporter's question which lead to Rich's answer ... for context ... but ur correct on his answer at -8:20)

Thanks for bringing up the Documentary "Miracles Out of Nowhere" that began airing this past year ... have seen it a couple of times ... very enjoyable ... especially when one doesn't know much on the beginnings of the Band. (I will keep a look out on the music channels for an airing and post here.)

Got a big smile when drummer Phil Ehart states in the Doc something like suddenly we're playing two sold out shows at The Spectrum (Philadelphia ... many early concert memories there for me.)

I remember a day in 1976 like it was yesterday ... begging my mom to take me to Sears so I can buy Leftoverture.  (Point of Know Return and Audio-Visions later joined it in the Record Crate.)
